Marriage is the center of all social maneuvering on The Gilded Age, but thankfully, the stars of the hit period drama have formed their real-life partnerships for love, not status.
Carrie Coon and Morgan Spector — who play power couple Bertha and George Russell, respectively — are both wed to former costars they once shared a stage with. Coon has been married to Pulitzer-winning playwright Tracy Letts since 2013 and Spector tied the knot with British actress Rebecca Hall in 2015.
But their characters’ relationship is just one of many fans are eager to see more of in season 3, which premiered on June 22. Marian Brook (Louisa Jacobson) and Larry Russell (Harry Richardson) ended the second season on a cliffhanger that left everyone wondering if their slow-burn romance would finally blossom.
“Relationships had their challenges in 1884, and they do today,” executive producer and writer Sonja Warfield told Entertainment Weekly in 2023. “The modern challenges aren’t that different from those challenges. Yes, we’re rooting for them. But everything will be complicated.”
While things may get complicated on-screen, several cast members have found lasting love off-screen. Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of The Gilded Age season 3 cast.

The actress described her marriage to The Guardian as “healthy” and “happy” in 2021.
“When I was younger, let’s say I didn’t always conduct myself with integrity in my relationships,” she told the outlet. “Now I’ve found a partner who I can be truly honest with, I never want to go back.”

“We live in the countryside away from everything, a very rural situation,” Hall said. “We’re actually pretty quiet people. But, I think that as a result, when we go out … we both enjoy that and we do it and we have fun with it.”
The couple shares one child, who was born in 2018.

However, the actor has opened up about why he thinks his slow-burn romance with Marian Brook (Jacobson) has been such a fan-favorite on The Gilded Age.
“What’s special about their relationship is they have the opportunity to grow as friends first,” Richardson said during a press conference in 2025, per Actors With Issues. “They start with a foundation of friendship before contemplating romance.”

Baranski recalled, “I said, ‘I’m married to a man, my late husband, was a Drexel from the Drexel family,’ and that was, of course, one of the New York aristocratic Gilded Age families.”

“A lot of what I love about her is her butchness,” Nixon said. “I’m not saying I fell in love with her in a sexually neutral way. I love her sexuality — it’s a big part of what I love about her — but I feel like it was her.
The actress continued, “It wasn’t something in me that was waiting to come out. It was like, ‘This person is undeniable. How can I let this person walk by?’ ”
The pair welcomed a son in 2011. Nixon also has two children from her previous marriage to Danny Mozes.
