Nobody Wants This is all about love and family, and, like their characters in the show, the cast have bustling broods of their own.
The Netflix rom-com show about the unlikely romance between unconventional rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody) and dating podcaster Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell) is back for season 2. Though the stars’ relationship has not yet progressed to parenthood status in the show, Bell and Brody are both parents of two in real life.
Bell shares two daughters with her husband of over a decade, Dax Shepard, while Brody is a dad to a son and daughter with his wife, Leighton Meester, who joined the cast in season 2. Their newfound title as costars gave the two a chance to steal some time away from their children.
“Driving to work together and getting a little alone time,” Brody told PEOPLE at the show’s premiere of the best part of working with his wife. “It’s sort of a date night.”
From Adam Brody and Leighton Meester’s kids to Kristen Bell’s daughters, here’s everything to know about the kids of the Nobody Wants This cast.

Brody plays the charismatic series lead known as the “hot rabbi” Noah Roklov, who falls in love with dating podcaster Joanne Williams, despite his parents’ and friends’ reservations. In season 2, Meester joins Nobody Wants This to stir up trouble as Joanne’s middle school rival and Instagram mom-fluencer Abby.
The couple have two children together: a daughter, Arlo Day Brody, born on Aug. 4, 2015, and a son, who was born in 2020. Brody and Meester have not shared the little boy’s name.
The two may both be busy with their careers, but they’ve managed to find the balance between work and being present for their children.
“We are each other’s managers, and we also have the same two agents… We are in each other’s s— in that way, and we even did a movie together a couple of years ago,” Brody said during a September 2024 appearance on Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast.
The actors tend to keep their children out of the spotlight, but frequently speak about them. In 2023, Meester opened up to PEOPLE about how motherhood made her think about her own upbringing.
“It’s all just so intimate and private,” Meester said. “It’s something that I could never put into words, really. It’s such an emotional journey to have children, and it certainly has made me reflect on my own upbringing and childhood.”
She added, “Having children, I want to give them all that we never had when we were growing up, but also to be candid and open about how grateful we should be for everything that we have.”
Kristen Bell’s 2 Daughters

Bell plays the agnostic, gregarious dating and sex podcaster Joanne, who falls in love with good-natured Noah after a history of dating bad boys. Just like her costar, Bell is also married to an actor in real life: Dax Shepard.
Together, Bell and Shepard have two daughters: Lincoln, born in 2013, and Delta, born in 2014. As parents of two, the couple share one main rule: always work through conflict in front of the kids.
“We always make up in front of them if anyone gets snarky or frustrated or fights, which we all do,” Bell told PEOPLE in May 2024. “We do not have the makeup, our conflict resolution be behind closed doors.”
She continued, “We’ll apologize to each other the next morning. Then we will apologize and make amends to each other in front of the kids so that they can see how conflict resolution actually happens.”
While the couple tend to keep their daughters out of the public eye, Bell does frequently speak about her parenting techniques — from their irregular bathing schedules to the importance of shared bedrooms.
Justine Lupe’s Daughter

Justine Lupe plays Joanne’s sarcastic best friend, sister, sometimes-advisor and podcast co-host Morgan Williams. Like Joanne, Morgan is looking for love, but Lupe found it in real life with her husband, Tyson Mason, with whom she shares a daughter, Ellis.
Ellis was born in August 2024, after Lupe spent the first five months of her pregnancy filming season 1 of Nobody Wants This. Lupe spoke with Dôen in early 2025 about the experience of filming pregnant and how it enhanced her time on the show.
“I found that I loved it [being pregnant on set]. I felt comfortable, I felt the most creative I’ve ever felt,” Lupe said. “There was something about it that felt really healing for me. I’ve done good work, I’m not recycling the same old problems. I was really proud of myself, proud of the work that I was doing, and proud to be pregnant.”
Lupe continued, saying that she took time off from acting between seasons 1 and 2 of Nobody Wants This to be with Ellis. She added that her priority has shifted to being more “rigorous” with scheduling, which includes spending more time with Ellis off set.

Timothy Simons portrays Noah’s eccentric older brother, Sasha, who’s married to Esther Roklov (Jackie Tohn) and forms an unlikely friendship with Morgan. Simons married his wife Annie in 2008, and the couple welcomed twins in 2011.
Simons told PEOPLE in April 2025 that his now-teen kids were most excited about his costars in Nobody Wants This, rather than his part in it.
“They really like Nobody Wants This. So that gave me a little bit of credibility, too. But I think mostly because they want to meet all the other actors in it,” Simons said.
He continued, “They want to meet everybody. They want to meet Justine [Lupe], Kristen [Bell], Adam [Brody]. They want to meet Jackie [Tohn] … And I’m sort of like, ‘Yeah guys, I’m on this show too, and I see you every day.’ And they’re like ‘We don’t care. We don’t care.’ ”
Simons had better luck getting his kids excited about his upcoming role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In January 2025, he told PEOPLE that his kids are huge fans of the books the Disney+ show is based on — and even got the cast to sign some for the teens.
“It’s very fun to know that I can do something my kids are into,” Simons said. “I brought up some books and the cast all signed the books. [My kids] were over the moon.”
Emily Arlook’s 2 Kids

Emily Arlook plays Noah’s scorned ex-girlfriend Rebecca. However, in real life, Arlook has been lucky in love as she shares two sons with her partner, actor, producer and screenwriter Will McCormack.
Arlook keeps her children out of the public eye, often covering their faces with emojis on social media. However, she occasionally shares glimpses into her family life, including when she took one of her sons to the Disney lot during her time on Grown-ish.
“Deeply unclear who enjoyed take your son to work day more,” Arlook wrote on Instagram in February 2024.
