Scream has become one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time. Each movie is known for Ghostface, a masked killer who targets numerous unsuspecting people. The first movie came out in 1996, and there have since been six completed movies, with Scream 7 in development.
Two of the iconic characters from the original Scream movie are Billy and Stu. These characters are played by Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard, respectively. Billy and Stu are revealed to be the Ghostface killers and are killed by the end of the movie, and thus are not main characters in future films.
Both actors have continued to have active careers, but have not had a horror reunion in years. Lillard played Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo movies, whereas Ulrich’s recent roles include parts in Supercell and Parish. Now, however, the pair of Scream actors get to reunite for another horror film.
Matthew Lillard And Skeet Ulrich Are Confirmed For Five Nights At Freddy’s 2
Ulrich Plays A New Character
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 now has a confirmed Scream reunion. The movie is a sequel to the video game adaptation film Five Nights at Freddy’s, which was released in 2023. The new trailer was recently released, revealing more about how the sequel film will play with the game’s elements.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has a December 5 release date and acts as one of Blumhouse’s chances to recover after a slow start earlier this year. The first film did incredibly well in theaters, making just shy of $300 million, so the second movie has the chance to do well, too.
Now, Blumhouse and Universal (via Bloody Disgusting) have confirmed that Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich will appear in the sequel film. Lillard will return to the role of William Afton, which he originated in the first movie. Ulrich will play a new character, whose specifics have not yet been revealed.
What This Means For Five Nights At Freddy’s 2
How Did Afton Survive?
One unique element of this casting is the fact that Lillard’s character, William Afton, appears to die in the first movie. In Five Nights at Freddy’s ending, Afton, wearing an animatronic suit, inadvertently triggers its springlock mechanisms and gets trapped and fatally wounded.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 debuted its first teaser trailer, confirming the appearance of several animatronics that are both new and returning.
Now, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will have to explain how he survives this fateful encounter. The trailer does not show him, so this remains one of the mysteries of the second movie. Hopefully, Ulrich and Lillard can get some good on-screen time together, making for a strong Scream mini-reunion nearly 30 years later.
