Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan take their onscreen family overseas in the sequel to The Family Plan.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the first trailer for The Family Plan 2 dropped, teasing the sequel to Wahlberg and Monaghan’s 2023 streaming hit. Wahlberg, 54, reprises his role as suburban dad and car salesman Dan Morgan, whose family now knows about his past life as an assassin.
In the new movie, Dan and Jessica’s (Monaghan, 49) Christmas vacation with their kids (Zoe Colletti, Van Crosby) takes one turn when they meet their daughter’s new boyfriend (Reda Elazouar) — and when Kit Harington’s villain reveals himself as another shady character from Dan’s past.
A synopsis reads, “It’s the holiday season and Dan has planned the perfect vacation for his wife Jessica and their kids to celebrate overseas — until a mysterious figure from his past (Harington, 38) shows up with unfinished business.”

“An international game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Dan and his family battle, bicker and bond their way through a series of bank heists, holiday hijinks and car chases amid scenic European terrain,” the synopsis adds.
Simon Cellan Jones returns to direct the sequel to The Family Plan, which Apple TV reported back in December 2023 was the platform’s most-watched movie ever at that time.

Cellan Jones, 62, told PEOPLE recently that it was “great to get the family back together” for the sequel. “We loved the tone and feel of the first movie and definitely didn’t want to fix what wasn’t broke,” he said. “It’s still a super-normal, grounded family getting into dangerous scrapes with ruthless killers. But this time they go to Europe, and it’s great to see them out of their comfort zone.”
Monaghan recently told PEOPLE the sequel is “as action-packed, fun and heartwarming as the original, but now it is set in the beautiful backdrop of London and Paris during the holidays.”

“It’s quite magical,” she added. “It’s a film you can enjoy with the whole family. It’s adventurous, laugh-out-loud funny and very touching.”
The Family Plan 2 is on Apple TV Nov. 21.
