NEED TO KNOW
Malin Akerman is paying homage to her hilarious wig in an all-new Halloween spoof for Sonic.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the 47-year-old Hunting Wives star, who plays wealthy Texas housewife Margo Banks on the Netflix drama series, teamed up with Sonic for an unforgettable spin on the chatter behind her character’s hair.
“Trick or Treat Blast?” the actress said at the start of the ad, titled “A Hallo-Wig Story,” as she read a Sonic menu from her car in a drive-thru line.
“Vanilla soft serve M&M minis, Oreo cookies, pieces of Heath? Yeah, sounds perfect!” she added.
The first scene shows Akerman in her usual blonde hair.
As the tasty treat is brought to her car by a smiling Sonic staffer, Akerman is asked if she wants another.
“Oh no, one’s enough for me. Thanks,” she replied.
However, as the employee leaves, Akerman, or should we say “Margo” gets a text from “Hubby” asking if she’s left Sonic yet because he also wants a Trick or Treat Blast from Sonic.

Luckily for her, she happens to have the infamous strawberry blonde wig sitting in the back seat of her car.
She flashes the hair piece a quick glance and decides to go through the drive-thru again, this time in disguise to shamelessly order another Trick or Treat Blast.
Channeling her inner-Margo, Akerman now has all the confidence she needs to grab another vanilla soft serve dessert when she gets another text — this time from “wifey,” with a snowflake and purple devil emoji.
Fans in Sonic’s comment section went wild with the snowflake reference as a not-so-subtle nod to Akerman’s Hunting Wives costar Brittany Snow, who plays her friend and sometimes twisted girl crush in the drama.
Akerman returns again with a Morticia-like wig for more menu items, even adding a corndog to her order.

The ad ends with Akerman getting caught enjoying a Sonic meal from her car as the employee recognizes her with her blonde hair.
“Whatever wig you’re wearing, make Sonic your Halloween destination,” a message in ghastly font reads across the screen.
Akerman has addressed the chatter surrounding her viral wig in the past, such as during a September visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after he showed her a photo of her wearing it on the Hunting Wives set.

Akerman laughed and added, “Here’s the thing: I had a wig made for me and the wig arrived, we were already in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we were shooting, and it arrived and it fit, but the color and the whole thing, it looked like Linda Evans from back in the ‘80s.”
She admitted she didn’t know if it was right, so she and the hair and makeup team on set found a wig they already had and used that because “we were like, well, this is all we got. So we’re gonna make do.”
“[The wig] is its own character,” she told Fallon, 51.
