Some of Madeline Brewer’s The Handmaid’s Tale costars weren’t “initially” on her wedding guest list — though the actress said there was a good reason behind it.
Brewer, 33, exclusively revealed to PEOPLE that she slipped in a few extra invitations to her castmates for her upcoming nuptials to cinematographer Jack Thompson-Roylance, and revealed why they weren’t originally on the guest list.
“Yeah, I mean, I just was doing some rounds of invites to my wedding the other day and I was like, ‘I need to invite more of my friends from The Handmaid’s Tale,’ ” she shared.
“Just for the fact that I didn’t initially because they all live in LA, or it’s a big ask to ask them all to come here,” she continued. “But I was like, ‘These are my people. These are some of my closest friends.’ ”

Two of her The Handmaid’s Tale costars did make it into the wedding party. Last month, Brewer revealed at the premiere event for Season 6 of the Hulu show that Nina Kiri and Habia Watson, who played Alma and Brianna, respectively, on the show, were both going to be her bridesmaids.

“They’re two of my closest friends. And we shared this incredible thing together,” she explained to PEOPLE. “But it’s gone far beyond that. I mean, those are two of the best people in the world, and they’re my friends. I get to be friends with them.”

Brewer also shared at the time that she and Thompson-Roylance were planning to deviate when it came to standard wedding plans, as she noted that the ceremony is going to be “pretty small.” She also shared that she nixed her bachelorette party.
“Honestly, I have Handmaid’s [Tale] still coming out next week. And two weeks later, I have You coming out. And I don’t have time to have a bachelorette [party],” Brewer shared at the time.
However, she didn’t completely rule out the idea of celebrating in some way “afterwards.” She said that she and her best friend “might go traveling in Europe right after the wedding,” since she and her soon-to-be husband were planning to wait for a bit for their honeymoon.
As for where she and Thompson-Roylance were planning to travel, she said: “We want to go to Tokyo. We want to see the cherry blossoms.” She added, “So, we’re still figuring it out. I mean, such is the life of two people who work in film.”
The You star, who announced her engagement in January 2024, previously shared with PEOPLE at PaleyFest L.A. 2025 that she and her fiancé were having a July wedding in England and that planning was in full swing.
“[It’s going] great. We’re so excited,” Brewer said. “He’s here somewhere. Wedding planning is insane, especially having two shows come out in April, but we’re getting through it.”
