Lizzo is kicking off Pride month with a special shoutout.
During her Saturday, May 31st, performance at OUTLOUD Music Festival at WeHo Pride in Los Angeles, the 37-year-old sang a special rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and dedicated it to the audience and, “most importantly, to the Black trans women who was out there fighting.”
“We would not be able to celebrate today,” she continued in her speech to the crowd, “and we still in some s— right, but hopefully one day beyond this m———— rainbow bitch, we will see a place where we no longer have to fight to exist.”
Two days later, the Yitty founder — who wore a black top with her shapewear company’s name written across in sparkly red letters, paired with denim microshorts and a black studded belt during her set — shared a clip of her performance on Instagram, sharing similar sentiments in the caption.
“Happy Pride to the beautiful LGBTQIA+ community,” she captioned the post. “As this month begins let us remember there would be no pride without the black trans women & trans women of color who fought against the systems that tried to erase them.”

“In honor of that fight,” she continued, “we have to continue to take a stand against that very same system that threatens our rights to bodily autonomy and liberation.”
“We ain’t free till we all free. I love you,” Lizzo concluded the post.
The star, who debuted her latest single “Still Bad” on The Kelly Clarkson Show two weeks ago, also performed a version of Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch,” with her own twist.
Lizzo was one of many performers at the annual two-day Pride festival — Kim Petras, Remi Wolf, Paris Hilton, Rebecca Black, Frankie Grande also appeared, alongside many others.
