Lisa Ann Walter was spotted glamorously multitasking at an awards show.
Speaking to PEOPLE in an exclusive conversation at the 31st Critics’ Choice Awards on Jan. 4, the 62-year-old Abbott Elementary star revealed she was watching football on her phone in between red carpet interviews.
“Well, it’s Washington, the Commanders, versus the Philadelphia Eagles,” she said. “They’re both my teams. I grew up in D.C., but because I am a Philly girl now by adoption, I always root for them when they’re doing well.”
Abbott Elementary, the popular ABC sitcom in which Walter plays teacher Melissa Schemmenti, is set in Philadelphia, where the Eagles hail.

Walter admitted that watching football on her phone during awards shows might become a tradition, especially since these star-studded ceremonies often happen on Sundays, the same day many NFL games are broadcast.
For the Golden Globes on Jan. 11, the actress explained, “It depends on what the games are. I think there are going to be a couple of really great games that have not been decided who’s going to be, and those I’ll watch,” referring to the NFL’s Wild Card Weekend matchups.
Following the Jan. 4 games, the Eagles are now scheduled to play the San Francisco 49ers on Jan. 11 as part of the opening round of the playoffs, so Walter will likely be glancing at her phone during the Golden Globes.
At the Critics’ Choice Awards, Walter was also spotted mingling with fellow celebrities, including Ego Nwodim on the red carpet and Katherine LaNasa at the Abbott Elementary cast table during the ceremony.

Aside from football, the Parent Trap star revealed that she has recently started watching Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
“I just started it because one of my son’s girlfriends is from Utah,” said the mother of three sons and one daughter. “She was born a Mormon, so while they were at the house visiting for the holidays, she was with us for a while, and we just started it two days ago.”
Walter continued, “I’m still on Taylor Frankie Paul being pregnant with the guy who’s like … we don’t know if he’s nice to her or not nice to her.”

Asked whether she’ll be tuning in to watch Paul on the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, Walter was surprised to learn she’s single.
“You telling me that she’s the Bachelorette is the first way I knew that she wasn’t with him anymore,” Walter replied to a question. “Yes, Spoiler. I had no idea she had broken up with that guy. … I got to catch up.”
Walter said she’ll “probably” watch Paul on the dating show, adding that Paul is “a hot mess. She needs a hazmat squad everywhere she goes.”
