Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn are playing a game of cat-and-mouse in their new movie.
On Thursday, July 24, Warner Bros. released the latest trailer for filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson’s new movie One Battle After Another, which stars DiCaprio, 50, as a former revolutionary figure who is being hunted by Penn’s police character, Steven Lockjaw.
In the trailer, Teyana Taylor’s character — who shares a child with DiCaprio’s character — appears to be apprehended by law enforcement some time prior to the start of the movie’s events, leaving DiCaprio’s character and his daughter (played by Chase Infiniti) to go on the run and seek refuge with an ally (portrayed by Benicio del Toro.)

One Battle After Another also stars Wood Harris, Alana Haim and Regina Hall, the latter of whom recently told PEOPLE that she was “so excited to be part of a film that” Anderson, 55, was directing.
“I was incredibly curious: ‘What is this movie?’ … There’s a lot of laughter, strong messaging, humor, wit,” she said of reading the film’s script for the first time. “The cast, I loved,” she added, calling the ensemble “an incredible group … I love Leo, Benicio, Sean Penn — Teyana’s amazing.”
DiCaprio himself described One Battle After Another as “an incredibly epic movie [that] has such scope and scale” when he appeared at CinemaCon 2025 in April to tease the film. “A lot of writer-directors are incredibly rigid, but his ability to work with actors is so unique,” DiCpairo said of Anderson at that presentation; he called it an “honor” to work with the filmmaker.
