The Legend of Zelda live-action movie unveiled its first look at Link and Zelda.
On Monday, Nov. 17, Nintendo and Sony Pictures debuted the first official photos of Bo Bragason as Princess Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link and announced that the project has begun filming.
Wes Ball, known for the Maze Runner films and 2024’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the adaptation of the popular video game franchise, which debuted in 1986.

Bragason and Ainsworth’s casting was revealed in July 2025.
Bragason previously starred in 2024’s The Radleys and the series Renegade Nell and King & Conqueror. Ainsworth voiced the titular character in 2022’s live-action Pinocchio with Tom Hanks, and he starred in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor.

After the box office success of animated Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, Nintendo is expanding its reach in the filmmaking business with Zelda and more.
Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day and Jack Black will return to the voice cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, in theaters April 3.
The Legend of Zelda is scheduled to debut in theaters May 7, 2027.
