NEED TO KNOW
The truth has finally come out.
In the upcoming episode of The Buccaneers, Kristine Frøseth (Nan St. George) and Leighton Meester (Nell) finally come face-to-face and get real, as Nan’s long-held question finally gets an answer.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip from episode seven of season 2, Nan is in New York City to support her mom (Christina Hendricks) amid her ongoing divorce trial, a scandal that has engulfed the city as it’s the first of its kind.
Nan’s visit to New York City is not just about supporting her mother, though, she also has some questions she wants answers to.
As the clip begins, Nan gets right to it, asking her aunt, “Am I right? Is it you? What my mother was trying to say before you left England….”
Nell comes up with multiple excuses to try to distract Nan from the subject she’s approaching, but Nan won’t have it. “Are you my mother?” she asks, point-blank. “Well?”

“Yes,” Nell says, at long last, tears in her eyes as she releases her secret of more than two decades. “Yes, it’s me, I’m your mother.”
The revelation doesn’t exactly get the response from Nan that Nell was likely hoping for.
“It should be no surprise,” Nan tells Nell. “That you are a coward. Stayed away my whole life, not daring to be near me.”
Nell tries to explain, as she starts, “Well, I wanted,” but Nan cuts her right off, getting to the real question at hand, at which point Mrs. St. George walks up to the door, overhearing the argument.
“I’m not interested in what you wanted,” she tells her aunt/birth mother. “Why aren’t you testifying? After everything my mother did for you — taking me in, protecting you, allowing you to live your life unencumbered — and now you’re just going to let her face all of this on her own?”
“You’re the only person, the one person in this whole world, who can make a difference,” Nan tells Nell. “How come you get off scot-free in all of this?”

Nell is not about to let Nan talk to her like that, though. “How dare you? You don’t know the first thing about me,” she hits back.
“I don’t,” Nan admits as the clip ends. “You made sure of that.”
Bringing Meester into the fold for season 2 was a fun new challenge for Hendricks and Frøseth.
Ahead of season 2’s premiere, Meester, 39, Hendricks and Frøseth, 29, spoke to PEOPLE about what was to come, as Frøseth admitted, “One of the things I was most excited about was to unpack all the family drama. There’s so much that happens in season 2.”
“I was very excited when I heard of the casting of Leighton because I was a big fan already,” Hendricks, 50, added. “And I thought it was clever casting on their part, knowing that the audience was going to get very excited about this.”
In Meester’s words, she said of why she wanted to play Nell, “I probably was more interested in how different the character was [from other roles I’ve had] and how I would be able to explore that and sort of unpack [it all].”
