Kris Jenner Explains Why She Remains Close with Her Daughters’ Exes

Kris Jenner is addressing her willingness to forgive her daughters’ exes. 

The 70-year-old momager has long welcomed the exes of her daughters, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner into her life, even after public scandal. 

“I fall in love with people, have lives and years spent with their partners or their boyfriends or their husbands,” Kris shared on the Monday. Nov. 17 episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty.

“And I have all these memories and travels and Christmas morning celebrations and birthdays and all the fun, the laughter, the joys, the tears, the babies.”

She continued, “These are, in most cases, the fathers of my grandchildren. And I love these men, and that love doesn’t go away when we experience really challenging times with them. It just doesn’t turn off like that for me.”

The mother of six said her children’s exes know “they can always come to me” saying she has an “open door” policy.

The reality show star admitted that “a lot of people don’t understand,” her approach, pointing out that some of these man have “treated [her daughters] badly.” But Kris said that those issues, including numerous cheating scandals, have been handled “internally and privately.” 

“We don’t need to talk about these things anymore. It’s been done. It’s dealt with,” she said. “We’ve talked about it. We all know what’s happened. We’ve had it on the show or we’ve had it in our lives. Now it’s time to grow the f— up, be mature. I love who I’ve loved and I don’t like what they’ve done. No I don’t. But it doesn’t make the love get any less overnight.”

As a grandmother of 13, Kris is also aware of being publicly critical of her grandkids’ fathers. 

“What will my grandkids think 20 years from now if their grandmother treated their dad poorly?” she said. “Or I wasn’t loving and kind and compassionate and forgiving? So I teach my kids forgiveness. It’s one of the biggest lessons that I can teach them, to forgive somebody whose treated you badly and move on.” 

Kris is known for continuing to reach out to her kids’ exes, including Khloé’s ex Tristan Thompson, who recently attended her 70th birthday celebration. Tristan has admitted to cheating while he was in a relationship with Khloé, even though they welcomed two children together. 

“Tristan comes walking in the back door and [says], ‘Hey Mom, what’s up?’ ” Kris said of the NBA star. “So they’re always around and we embrace them.”

Another of her daughters’ exes she maintains a relationship with is Kylie’s former partner, Travis Scott, with whom she shares daughter Stormi and son Aire. 

“I’m close to Travis and I love his mom and his dad and his sister and his brother,” Kris said of the rapper, who split from Kylie in early 2023 after years of an on-off romance. “They’re family to us. And we share celebrations together.” 

The family does their best to include the fathers and exes in their holidays and celebrations, a tradition, Kris told Shetty, from their own upbringing. 

“So my goal with my child was always that their dad comes for Christmas morning and we spend New Year’s Eve together and birthdays and celebrations,” she explained, referencing her 1991 divorce from the late Robert Kardashian.

“Robert Kardashian came to Kendall and Kylie’s first birthdays, and he was there for every celebration and they called him Uncle Robert and he walked through that back door whenever he wanted knowing there would be dinner on the table at 6 o’clock and he was always welcome.”
