NEED TO KNOW
Kim Kardashian is loving the attention her hair is getting — no matter where it is.
The multi-hyphenate mogul, 44, opened up about the public’s reaction to her most talked about SKIMS launch yet, while speaking with E! News at the Thursday, Oct. 16 premiere of Hulu’s All’s Fair in Los Angeles.
The Faux Hair Micro String Thong, which features “a mix of curly and straight faux hair in twelve different shade variations,” per the SKIMS website, was conceived while the mother of four was doing a photo shoot, and its debut has the internet buzzing.

“It was just a fun, silly idea,” Kardashian told the outlet during a red carpet interview. “But you know a lot of other people have done it, like [John] Galliano.”
During a 2024 Maison Margiela haute couture runway show, the 64-year-old British fashion designer styled his models with merkins, an artificial hairpiece intended for the pubic area.
“It was so funny,” Kardashian said.
“I’m shocked it got so much attention,” the businesswoman continued. “We’ve been laughing and talking about it all day long.”
The viral product, which comes in a variety of “nude” shades and faux hair textures, retail for $32, has already sold out following its Tuesday, Oct. 14 release. There’s currently a wait list for the next batch of the brand’s most controversial panties.
“Just Dropped: The Ultimate Bush,” SKIMS captioned their Instagram announcement on Tuesday. “With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.”
The ad spoofed a 1970s game show, with three models showing off SKIMS “most daring panty yet.”
“I’m calling 911,” one person commented. Another wrote, “how about just more color ways in lounge wear??”
The sold-out micro string thongs are also making waves with other brands.

European Wax Center wasted no time getting in on the fun by posting their own ad in response to SKIMS.
“We’ll take it from here, Kim,” the chain salon, known for its hair-removal services, said in storefront posters shared to their social media accounts on Wednesday, Oct. 15.

Kardashian was a fan of European Wax Center’s post, commenting, “Best response I’ve seen @europeanwax. Give whoever came up with this a raise!” with clapping hand emojis.
