You were right, Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris stans! This duo is writing together.
Weeks after Ballerini, 31, and Morris, 35, collaborated on a series of silly TikToks, the “Blindsided” singer opened up about their reunion — and what may come of it.
“Maren and I haven’t had the chance to catch up in years, and we’ve both had so much life that’s happened,” Ballerini, who recently led Pantene’s new “Country Fried Hair” campaign, tells PEOPLE.
She adds, “We’ve recently just reconnected and I’ve always really looked up to her songwriting and her musicality, and we’ve never written together. So I was like, ‘Come on down to Charleston. Let’s write.'”

During that time, Ballerini says, they had “three days of girl time.”
“[It was] me, her and Alysa [Vanderheym], and we wrote and we went to dinners,” the “First Rodeo” singer says. “It was not work. It was much more play than work.”
On July 2, Morris shared a fun video set to Lorde’s verse in the remix of Charli xcx’s “Girl, so confusing,” where she and Ballerini face each other before strutting down a brick walkway side by side.
In a second TikTok shared by Ballerini, the duo enjoyed drinks as a Justin Bieber track played in the background. She captioned the post, “We’re standing on business.”
“Were you bonesided or were you just boned?” Morris commented, which was a play on the lyrics of Ballerini’s hit song “Blindsided” and her own song “The Bones.”
In the comments section, fans expressed excitement over a potential collaboration as “Girl, so confusing” marked the first song from Lorde and Charli xcx together and was inspired by complicated moments in their friendship.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Ballerini says she’s looking forward to her run of shows in Australia — and she’s finding comfort in stillness.
“I wish I could sit here and tell you I had a bunch up my sleeve. I really don’t for the first time in a long time, and I’m learning to be comfortable with that,” she says.
In March, Ballerini released the deluxe version of her album Patterns. Meanwhile, Morris released her most recent album Dreamsicle in May.
