NEED TO KNOW
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are returning to All My Children — and a few iconic faces may be joining them.
Ripa, 55, revealed on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast that she and her husband, 54, would be revisiting the longtime daytime series, where they first met, in a set of new films.
“Mark and I and our production company, we are developing two All My Children movies for Lifetime,” Ripa announced. “Woo. We are so excited.”
The actress went on to say that the project was still “very early stages,” but she asked her special guest on the podcast and All My Children costar Susan Lucci, 79, how she would feel about “walking back into the role.”
“I would love to play Erica Kane again. Are you kidding?” Lucci responded while referencing her beloved character. “She was so much fun to play. My goodness. It was so much fun. I was serious when I said I would look at the scripts and go, ‘really? I get to do this?’ This was a wonderful part.”

“And I’m hearing good things about the writer too, and that of course is so important,” she added.
Lucci previously told PEOPLE that she would be happy to join the projects as long as her criteria is met — including that the script is completed and carries on her character’s story in a meaningful way.
“Well, certainly with Mark and Kelly producing, I know that I would be in good hands and being in good hands is central to my answer to the question, because the writing is so important,” the actress shared. “So I’d have to talk to them. I will always listen.”
“And of course, if everything was in place, if they were really going to do this. I would certainly want to be part of it,” she continued. “Hopefully it’s really going to happen and hopefully we have this great conversation and yeah, sure. If everything’s what it should be and with Mark and Kelly at the helm, I think it would be. Sure. Yes.”
She isn’t the only one excited at the prospect of All My Children films. A producer at Ripa and Consuelos’ production company, Albert, chimed in on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast that “Lifetime is very excited about it,” as well as the fans who consistently “show” up when the daytime TV show is mentioned.

Ripa noted that a recent New York City event she had where she mentioned the project had fans lined up “around the block.” Her producer agreed, “They want more.”
Lucci said of the daytime TV fans, “You feel their warmth and their energy and you feel so lucky.”
All My Children aired its final episode in September 2011 after running for 41 seasons. Lucci appeared in every season of its network run, which began in 1970. As for Ripa, she starred on the show as Hayley Vaughan from 1990-2002 and briefly returned in 2010. Consuelos also starred on the series from 1995-2002 as Mateo Santos.
