You probably won’t see Kelly Clarkson in the dating pool anytime soon.
During a recent performance of her Studio Sessions residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the “Since U Been Gone” singer got candid about her thoughts on dating — about three years after finalizing her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock.
“Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” Clarkson told the crowd, according to a video shared to TikTok.

“I’m like, it’s hard anyway,” she continued. “Add a spotlight, and it’s just… a dumpster fire.”
Clarkson’s last public relationship was with Blackstock, whom she was married to for nearly seven years before splitting in June 2020. Their divorce was finalized in March 2022.
The pair shares two kids: daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington “Remy,” 9.
In a November 2024 interview with KOST 103.5, Clarkson revealed she was “enjoying being single” and noted her two kids don’t want her to date.
“They constantly bring it up, ‘Please, we don’t want you with anybody else,'” the “Walk Away” artist shared. “They’re young, it’s hard to picture their mom with someone else other than their dad.”
She won’t adhere to their wishes forever. “I have expressed like, ‘Hey, I love you guys but Mommy needs lovings too,'” added Clarkson.

The Grammy winner’s thoughts on looking for new romance, however, have seemingly remained the same for some time now.
In a January 2024 PEOPLE cover story interview, Clarkson said with a laugh, “Dating sucks. It’s so awkward.”
“I was single until I was, like, 30, and I forgot how really good at that I am. I told a friend [that a potential partner] would have to be an individual that brings their own life to the table without needing anything from me,” she added at the time.

Clarkson continued, “It’s far more romantic to say, ‘I want you, but I don’t need anything.’ I’m really good right now, I’m having a good time.”
The “Where Have You Been” singer’s Studio Sessions residency continues through November 15.
