Though Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are no longer engaged, they have shifted to a coparenting relationship that focuses on their little girl.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday, July 3, reps for the pop star, 40, and the actor, 48, officially confirmed the couple’s split and illustrated how they plan to move forward as a family.
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement read. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter [Daisy Dove, 4½] with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
PEOPLE confirmed late last month that the pair had ended their engagement, splitting after nine years of on and off romance and six years after Bloom’s proposal.
Since then, the actor posted quotes on social media about a “new beginning,” as well as quotes by Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist Carl Jung about “loneliness” and “sadness.”
Meanwhile, Perry made an emotional return to the stage during her Lifetimes stop in Adelaide, Australia and was seemingly fighting back tears as she wrapped that leg of the tour.
“Thank you for always being there for me Australia. It means the world,” she told the crowd, before launching into her 2010 hit “Firework.” A later set of selfies showed Perry enjoying herself around the continent.
On July 1, a source told PEOPLE that the former couple had been living “on an island of stress” in the months before their split.
“Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years,” the source said. “[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”

Meanwhile, a film source added that their focus remained on their daughter, Daisy.
“Sometimes love isn’t enough to keep two people with different styles and outlooks on how things are done [together],” the film source added. “It can overshadow the love.”
Perry and Bloom began dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes afterparty. While they broke up in 2017, they rekindled their romance the following year and got engaged in 2019.
