If Jurassic World Rebirth keeps performing well at the box office, it could continue two impressive franchise streaks. Before the release of Rebirth, anticipation was high since it was being marketed to start a new era for the long-running franchise. This was a relief for fans, especially since the last couple Jurassic World movies were underwhelming.
However, reviews for Jurassic World Rebirth have unfortunately also been disappointing. While the film features plenty of dinosaurs and some scary sequences, fans and critics have noted that the story is quite predictable and the characters are boring. Therefore, after the ending of Jurassic World Rebirth, a lot of people walked out of the theater feeling let down.
While this is a shame, it needs to be noted that the marketing and hype around Jurassic World Rebirth convinced people to show up to theaters in the first place, which is obviously a positive. Despite the negative reviews, Rebirth had an amazing opening weekend at the box office. Therefore, Jurassic World Rebirth is already one-third of the way to continuing two franchise streaks.
Jurassic World Rebirth Already Made Over $322M At The Global Box Office
It’s One Of The Best Box Office Debuts This Year
Across its three-day opening weekend, Jurassic World Rebirth exceeded expectations and shot to the top of the box office by grossing $92 million domestically. During Jurassic World Rebirth’s opening weekend, it easily beat the record for the best single-day Fourth of July domestic gross of the 2020s, surpassing movies like 2024’s Despicable Me 4 and 2022’s Minions: The Rise of Gru.

Jurassic World Rebirth Sets Up A Wildly Different Future For The Franchise
Jurassic World Rebirth takes the blockbuster franchise in a new direction after introducing a new way for dinosaurs to impact humanity.
Based on this amazing opening weekend performance, it doesn’t seem like Jurassic World Rebirth’s momentum is going to stop anytime soon. As of this writing, the newest movie in the long-running franchise has managed to gross a total of $322 million at the worldwide box office (via Box Office Mojo).
To put this into perspective, Jurassic Park III made $365 million during its entire theatrical run. Therefore, Jurassic World Rebirth will easily soar past the series’ third movie and could even become one of the highest-grossing films in the franchise. However, this won’t necessarily be easy since four movies in the franchise have grossed over $1 billion.
Jurassic World Rebirth Is A Third Of The Way To Hitting One Billion
The Last Three Jurassic Movies Hit One Billion
The first Jurassic Park movie and the previous three Jurassic World movies all grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Since the three most recent movies in the franchise dominated at the box office, the pressure is on Rebirth to continue this impressive streak. Thankfully, Jurassic World Rebirth’s opening weekend haul has gotten it a third of the way to the $1 billion milestone.

While 2015’s Jurassic World was an exciting return to form for the franchise, Fallen Kingdom and Dominion were both critical disappointments. Despite this, they still managed to be box office juggernauts. Therefore, even though reviews for Rebirth are underwhelming, it still seems like it could make $1 billion.
If Jurassic World Rebirth fails to hit $1 billion, it may not bode well for the future of the franchise. The new movie will undoubtedly make Universal a lot of money, but a box office haul of less than $1 billion may suggest that the franchise has already peaked. After all, Jurassic World Dominion barely hit the $1 billion mark, so it would not be ideal if Rebirth falls short and continues the downward trend that is visible in the above table.
Jurassic World Rebirth Can Keep The Franchise’s $1Bn Average Going
The First Six Movies Grossed Over $6Bn Combined
Even though Universal definitely wants Jurassic World Rebirth to make $1 billion, it could still continue another franchise streak if it falls slightly short. In fact, as long as Rebirth makes $971.6 million at the box office, it will continue the franchise’s average of making $1 billion per movie.
Jurassic World’s $1.6 billion box office haul has ensured that the franchise has maintained this impressive average.
Jurassic Park III and even The Lost World: Jurassic Park may have lower box office earnings, but all the other films in the franchise have made up for them. In particular, Jurassic World’s $1.6 billion box office haul has ensured that the franchise has maintained this impressive average.
Overall, the franchise’s six movies have earned more than $6 billion at the box office. Therefore, to continue this streak, Jurassic World Rebirth needs to push it past the $7 billion mark. If it does do this, then Universal will likely remain hopeful about the future of the Jurassic World franchise, since this kind of streak is incredibly rare.
Can Jurassic World Rebirth Hit $1B?
So Far, No Hollywood Movie Has Passed That Milestone This Year
Even though Jurassic World Rebirth had an incredible opening weekend, it is not a guarantee that it will hit the $1 billion milestone. Even though all the other Jurassic World movies performed very well, the current downward box office trend suggests that Rebirth may not reach this notable milestone.
It also needs to be mentioned that no Hollywood movie has managed to gross $1 billion at the box office in 2025. Lilo & Stitch is very close and A Minecraft Movie fell just short, but Jurassic World Rebirth will definitely have more competition than either of these films.
Alongside Jurassic World Rebirth, F1 The Movie is also performing very well at the box office right now. Additionally, Superman releases this week and The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes out closer to the end of the month. These are both going to be huge movies, which could negatively impact Rebirth at the box office. Therefore, time will tell, but it’s not necessarily a guarantee that Jurassic World Rebirth will continue either of the aforementioned streaks.
