NEED TO KNOW
Julia Roberts knows what her go-to crew would look like.
The actress, 57, is helping launch 72 Magazine as the cover star for its inaugural issue, which will hit newsstands on Sept. 12.
In a behind-the-scenes video from her cover shoot, shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Roberts is asked what seven people she would invite for an ideal night out by Edward Enninful, the co-founder and chief creative officer of EE72, the company behind the new publication.
“Let’s start with my husband,” Roberts begins, referring to Danny Moder, whom she wed in 2002 and shares three children with.
“For some reason, I don’t know why, I’m thinking Jesus,” she continues, then adding that Joni Mitchell, Virginia Woolf, Van Morrison and her best friend from high school, Paige, would be the others, as well as Enninful, 53, himself.

As Enninful asks the Academy, Golden Globe and SAG-award winner to tell him more about her longtime friend, Roberts says Paige is her daughter Hazel’s godmother. “She’s awesome,” Roberts details of her childhood pal. “We’ve been friends since we were, I guess, like, 15?”
Enninful then asks the After the Hunt star what two questions she would pose to the group of seven guests during their night out.

“The first question would be, ‘What do you think about me?’ ” Roberts teases, then joking, “That made me feel a little nauseous, just trying to make that joke.”
Revealing what her true prompts to her guests would actually be, Roberts says, “One question would be, ‘What has been the most fulfilling aspect of your life?’ and ‘Does anybody here like beans on toast?’ ”

Roberts’ cover for 72 Magazine was photographed in London by Craig McDean. The mother of three was styled by Elizabeth Stewart, and Roberts wore Phoebe Philo attire and jewelry by Tiffany & Co.
Her interview for the inaugural issue was done by George Clooney, her longtime friend and collaborator. The pair has starred in five movies together — Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Money Monster (2016), and Ticket to Paradise (2022).
In a statement, Enninful said launching 72 Magazine with the help of Roberts “was a strategic decision that signals exactly what we’re building: a media company that champions established icons alongside emerging voices.”
“Having worked with Julia for many years, I’ve witnessed her unique ability to connect with audiences across generations and cultures,” continued the former editor-in-chief of British Vogue. “Her presence amplifying our first two properties — 72 Magazine and our digital platform — is emblematic of our mission: celebrating those who’ve shaped our creative industries while elevating the next generation of talent whose stories deserve to be told on a global stage.”
72 Magazine will debut alongside EE72’s immersive digital platform on Sept. 12.
