Jude Law had quite the fall when stepping out of a water taxi in Italy on Monday, Sept. 1.
In video footage, the 52-year-old English actor is seen missing his step as he gets into a water taxi in Venice. The Holiday star was traveling with his wife, Phillipa Coan, according to the Daily Mail, which obtained footage of the fall.
The couple was en route to the airport after attending the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, per the outlet. On the water taxi, he shook the driver’s hand before he attempted to step on the dock, and he tripped. He took the incident in stride and laughed it off with Coan, the outlet added. Fans on the dock checked to make sure he was okay once he got his footing.
In his newest film, political thriller The Wizard of the Kremlin, Law plays Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The movie is based on Giuliano da Empoli’s 2023 book of the same name, and is directed and co-written by French filmmaker Olivier Assayas. The dark comedy had its world premiere at the annual festival on Sunday, Aug. 31.
While there, Law explained why he wasn’t afraid to take on the role of Putin, 72.
“I hope not naively, but I didn’t fear repercussions,” he said during a press conference alongside Assayas and costars Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander, Tom Sturridge and Jeffrey Wright. “I felt confident, in the hands of Olivier and the script, that this story was going to be told intelligently and with nuance and consideration.”
“We weren’t looking for controversy for controversy’s sake,” he continued. “It’s a character in a broader story. We weren’t trying to define anything about anyone.”

Along with taking in the sights in Italy, he and Coan had a rare, PDA-filled date night out.
They attended the amfAR benefit gala Sunday evening, where Law presented Julian Schnabel with amfAR’s Award of Inspiration. Colman Domingo hosted the event, which raised more than $3.4 million for HIV/AIDS research and awareness.
Law and his business psychologist wife did not pose for pictures together on the red carpet, but once inside, cameras caught their romantic displays of affection as they sat together at a table.

The Young Pope star was seen caressing Coan’s back and whispering in her ear.
