Josh Groban views every moment with Barbra Streisand as a learning experience.
At the Only Make Believe Gala at Shubert Theater on Oct. 13, Groban spoke with PEOPLE about his recent collaboration with the iconic singer and actress on their duet, “Where Do I Go From You?” The song debuted on Streisand’s 2025 album, The Secret of LIfe: Partners, Volume 2.
Groban tells PEOPLE every time he works with Streisand — including their 2014 collaboration on “Somewhere” in 2014 and “All I Know of Love in 2002 — he learns something new from her.
“Having Barbra’s support and every time she’s asked, it’s just been an immediate opportunity for me to learn something new from this absolute legend, this master of her craft,” Groban says.
“Every time I’ve sung with her has been a different type of song and a different experience,” he continues. “And I just try to be a student whenever I’m in the studio with her, because nobody does it like Barbra.”

There wasn’t necessarily any one piece of advice Streisand imparted on Groban, but rather he learned by her example. Over the years, Groban has taken note of how Streisand “approaches a song,” and learned a lot just by watching and listening to her perform in the studio, he says.

Streisand’s new album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2, debuted on June 27 and features a wide range of musicians, including Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Hozier, Sam Smith, Seal, Tim McGraw, Laufey, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
“I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists,” Streisand said in a statement about the album ahead of its release. “They inspire me in unique and different ways, and make our time in the studio such a joy!”
“My new album, The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, gave me the chance to work and play with some of my old friends, label mates, and new artists too,” she added.
