NEED TO KNOW
Oh, Jonathan Bailey, how we’ve missed you!
We’re not surprised that the 37-year-old British stud is still on your mind after he was crowned PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive. Lucky for you (and us), he served another dose of hunkiness at this year’s Governors Awards in Los Angeles.
On Sunday, Nov. 16, the Wicked star stepped onto the star-studded red carpet in a sleek, all-black look — accented with a pop of “Glinda” pink. He wore a black suit jacket and slim-fitting black pants, paired with a pale pink shirt.
This year’s Governors Awards, hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and its Board of Governors, will honor Debbie Allen, Tom Cruise and Wynn Thomas with Academy Honorary Awards. Dolly Parton will also receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

With the highly anticipated release of Wicked: For Good hitting theaters on Nov. 21, Bailey, who plays Prince Fiyero, stepped out alongside his cast for the premiere in London, for which he wore a slouchy gray suit and a coat decorated with a lapel honoring the U.K. holiday Remembrance Day. He also attended an event with costar Cynthia Erivo and director Jon M. Chu in Brazil on Nov. 4.
While promoting Wicked, the first release in the two-part adaptation of the musical, Bailey quickly cemented his status as Hollywood’s best-dressed, with an assist from stylist Emma Jade Morrison, who clad the actor in everything from custom Ralph Lauren to custom Dolce & Gabbana to those viral Giuliva Heritage trouser shorts.
Bailey reflected on his career before embarking on the film’s tour in his SMA interview with PEOPLE. “You get to a point where you look back and you go, ‘Wow,’ but you never for a second think that’s where you’re headed,” he shared. “You know, to be able to do things that you dream of.”

Yet, while on set (read: a beach in the south of London), PEOPLE got to know Bailey — who shot to fame for his roles in Bridgerton and Jurassic World: Rebirth, as well as his Emmy-nominated part as a closeted congressional staffer in the Showtime series Fellow Travelers — beyond the screen.
His perfect date night? “It totally depends. I love a walk, I do love dinner, theater, films. It depends what number date. You know, if it’s like date 100, then like Legos…” he shared.
His typical day off? “I get up, go for a walk, have coffee. Go see friends or listen to loads of music, always got headphones near me. And then maybe watch a film or maybe go to the theater.”
But Bailey also opened up about his road to confidence. “At various moments in my life, I’ve been like, ‘I’ve got this,’ which is sometimes met by a deep spike of fear and self-doubt. When I was really young, I was very confident about who I was, and maybe I lost that as I grew up. We’re all sort of trying to get back to the origin, aren’t we?”
