Joe Jonas had a humorous response for critics of the Jonas Brothers’ World Series performance.
On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Jonas Brothers took the stage to perform their song “I Can’t Lose” from their album Greetings From Your Hometown, right in the middle of the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers at Toronto’s Rodgers Centre.
The score was tied 1–1 in the 5th inning, when the game paused for the annual Stand Up to Cancer tribute, Billboard reports. For the tribute, fans, players, and sports broadcasters held up the names of their loved ones who had been diagnosed with cancer.
Immediately after the tribute, Jonas Brothers appeared on stage, with an announcer explaining that the performance was dedicated to those living with cancer. The abrupt tonal shift left some MLB viewers confused, sparking an online conversation.
When the MLB shared a photo of Jonas Brothers on the field on Instagram, Joe, 36, chimed in.
“SPEECHLESS, OVER THE EDGE, JUST BREATHLESS 😍The @JonasBrothers are here at #WorldSeries Game 2!,” the MLB official Instagram account posted on Sunday, Oct. 26, in reference to the band’s 2008 song “Lovebug.”
In the comments, Joe wrote “Why these guys ?”
Other than Joe’s cheeky comment, the band has not addressed the online commentary surrounding the World Series performance yet, and has since resumed its tour schedule in Orlando.
“We’re proud to celebrate our partnership with Mastercard in support of Stand Up to Cancer during such a meaningful moment at the World Series with a performance of ‘I Can’t Lose’ in tribute to this powerful campaign,” the siblings said in a statement to Billboard ahead of the performance. “As lifelong baseball fans, it’s special to be part of a moment where music and purpose come together.”

The performance came a day before Kevin Jonas announced his debut solo single, “Changing,” would be released on Nov. 20. “Thank you for all of the love on this 🩵,” Kevin, 37, wrote in the Instagram caption, shared on Sunday, Oct. 26.
Kevin previously performed the song solo for the first time at the band’s Boston date in August. In a video posted by a concertgoer on X at the time, Kevin told the audience as he appeared onstage with a guitar in hand, “I’m super nervous, so bear with me,” while the intro of the song played. He then started singing the lyrics to the new track as the crowd cheered.
