NEED TO KNOW
Joanna Gaines is cooking on a few networks.
The Fixer Upper star’s new series Magnolia Table: At the Farm will roll out on Magnolia Network, her and husband Chip’s network that debuted in 2021, and Food Network. This is the first time that episodes will air concurrently on the two networks, according to a press release shared on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
New episodes of the show will roll out weekly on both Food Network and Magnolia Network starting on Sunday, Sept. 7. Episodes will also be available for same-day streaming on HBO Max.
The six-episode series is described as a “refreshed take” on the cookbook author’s 8-season Magnolia Table show, which has run for 4 years on Magnolia Network, per the release. It is executive produced by Chip and Joanna, will be shot in the Gaines’ family kitchen in Waco, Texas, and focus on the family of seven’s favorite recipes. Plus, according to an Instagram post announcing the show, she will give fans a “glimpse into family life on the farm.”
“This show is all about slowing down, having fun in the kitchen and creating simple meals that bring people together,” Gaines said in a press release. “I’m excited to share some of my favorite recipes and stories from our life on the farm, and I hope it will inspire you to savor the time you spend in the company of good food and people you love.”
The joint-airing does not come as a total surprise, considering that Food Network, Magnolia Network and HBO Max are all part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s portfolio. Episodes of Magnolia Table regularly air on Food Network.
The Gaines were recently under fire for their new reality survival series, Back to the Frontier. The Magnolia Network show, which premiered on July 10, sends three families back in time as they try to replicate the lifestyle that 19th-century Western pioneers lived. Each family is tasked with navigating the challenges that come with living off the land without any modern amenities.
One of the families is Jason Hanna and Joe Riggs, a gay couple, and their twin sons, Ethan and Lucas. After the series premiered, evangelical pastor Franklin Graham slammed Chip and Joanna on X for featuring a same-sex couple. Other fans voiced their criticism, too.
Chip stood up for the family’s inclusion, responding on X, “Talk, ask qustns, listen.. maybe even learn. Too much to ask of modern American Christian culture. Judge 1st, understand later/never. It’s a sad sunday when ‘non believers’ have never been confronted with hate or vitriol until they are introduced to a modern American Christian💔.”
Hanna took to social media the day after Chip’s response and wrote, “Visibility isn’t just about being seen; it’s about making sure no one feels alone.”
Magnolia Table: At the Farm will premiere on Magnolia Network and Food Network on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. ET. Episodes will be available for streaming on HBO Max the same day they air.
