Jesse Plemons got “lucky” with costar-turned-wife Kirsten Dunst.
“Immediately we just hit it off in a creative sense and felt like we could trust each other,” Plemons said of meeting his spouse in an interview with Andy Cohen that will air on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy on Monday, Oct. 27. The Bugonia star, 37, began dating Dunst after working with her on season 2 of the FX drama Fargo, which aired in 2015; the actors married in July 2022.
“I knew that we were gonna be playing husband and wife and spending a lot of time together,” Plemons recalled of filming the series with Dunst, 43. “And, you know, you never know if it’s something you’re going to have to kind of work for. And then sometimes you get lucky.”
Dunst and Plemons each earned Critics Choice Awards and Emmy nominations for their work on the television adaptation of Fargo as Midwestern couple Peggy and Ed Blumquist. That season of the Noah Hawley-created series inspired by the Cohen brothers’ 1996 movie, also starred Jean Smart, Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, Bokeem Woodbine, Cristin Milioti and more.

Of his first impressions of his future wife, Plemons had nothing but praise. “We’d both been acting since we were kids, but she had a lot of success early on. And I was just amazed at how human and unguarded she was and giving. So it was just really easy and we had so much fun with those two parts.”
With a smile, he added that they “got together like a year and a half after that, and got a couple kids now.”
Cohen, 57, delved into the personal lives of Plemons, his Bugonia costar Emma Stone and their director Yorgos Lanthimos. The “two dudes,” Ennis, 7, and James, 4, whom Plemons shares with Dunst, are “getting into” sports and arts, said the Oscar nominee.
James is “pretty active,” while his older brother “is a little more sensitive, creative, just constantly drawing, painting, doing Lego sets. Shout out to Ennis — he [builds Legos designed for] only 18 years and older,” Plemons shared.
