Jeremy Irons is diving into the dramatic, bustling world of The Morning Show in an exciting new role — and now, as a viewer.
When asked if he was a fan of the Apple TV+ hit before joining, Irons, 76, admits to PEOPLE exclusively: “No, I’d never seen the show!”
“But a lot of people who I knew had and recommended it was something I really would love to do,” he explains. “And then, I watched a bit and got the feel of it and saw the pacing of it and the subject matter, and thought it was great.”

Irons plays Martin Levy, the father of Jennifer Aniston’s character Alex Levy. As fans tune into the show’s premiere episode on Wednesday, Sept. 17, they will soon understand what Irons means as he says “it is a juicy role.”
“When I read it, I thought, ‘Yeah, that’s fine!'” he adds.
Getting to work alongside Aniston so closely was an added bonus for Irons, who viewers will get to see more of later in the season.
“Jen is a great, lovely actress,” he says. “I was very happy to go on board with it, and I’ve had a happy time doing it.”

Per the streamer, season 4 “opens in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of season 3,” leaving Alex, Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) and their colleagues to “grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives, and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America” after the UBA-NBN merger.
“In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and corporate cover-ups — who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real?” reads the official season 4 synopsis.

Irons’ role on the new season comes amid a storied career for the actor.
The English actor notably rose to prominence starring opposite Meryl Streep in The French Lieutenant’s Woman in 1981. He’s since added roles in Moonlighting, Dead Ringers, The Lion King, and Lolita to his résumé.
He received an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1991 for his role as Claus von Bülow in Reversal of Fortune. He’s also earned a Tony Award, three Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
Pinpointing what role he believed shaped him most as an actor, Irons, instead, says he simply has “a low boredom threshold.”
“I like to do things which interest me, excite me, and they’re often things which are different from the things I’ve done before,” he explains. “Like doing an animated movie like The Lion King, or doing a great musical like My Fair Lady, or working with really interesting directors, interesting stories.”
“I’m always excited by what I do, and I’m very lucky to have had the chance to do some really interesting things in the past,” he adds. “Of course, Morning Show, one of the biggest shows in America, and really successful into its fourth season. It’s great to jump on board that.”
