NEED TO KNOW
Jennifer Lopez is opening up about the special time she had to “reconnect” with her twins.
On the latest episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, the mom of two, 56, revealed that she took a whole year off after canceling her This Is Me…Live tour, which allowed her to spend some quality time with her twins. Lopez said the time allowed her to “reconnect” with them in a way that was new because she’s always been a “working single mom.”
“But last year when I had to cancel my tour, and I took a whole year off, I finished [Kiss of the Spider Woman] last March, and I didn’t start another movie until this following March [when] I did Office Romance,” she shared. “And during that year, literally just sat in like a rocking chair.”
“I was with my kids. I really wanted them to feel me and I didn’t wanna be away from them. And we reconnected in a way because I’ve always been a working single mom for most of their life,” she explained. “And so it was so nice for them to have me there every single day for a year, which was so different for them and for me.”

The doting mom, who shares her twins, Emme and Max, 17, her ex-husband Marc Anthony, has a tight-knit relationship with her twins. On Monday, Oct. 6, the Kiss of a Spider Woman star brought her two children to the special New York City screening of her upcoming musical drama.
Max and Emme stood beside their mother on the red carpet, wearing coordinating colors of deep red, tan, and black. The siblings each wore pants, and Max paired his with a relaxed-fit jacket while Emme wore a tailored blazer.
The singer and actress appeared on Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday, Oct. 6, and shared that in between her press appearances this week, she’s touring colleges with Max and Emme.
“Hey, the twins. They’re 17! Can you believe that?” co-host Mark Consuelos asked Lopez on the show.
“I mean, it’s crazy. We’re visiting colleges today, between doing this [press] and the premiere, we’re visiting a college today,” Lopez said. “It’s happening — they’re leaving, they’re going, and it’s crazy.”
“I’m happy because I feel like, I remember how exciting that time in my life was like, ‘Oh, I’m figuring out what I want to do with my life,’ ” she continued. “And it’s an exciting adventure, I want that for them. But I also think like, ‘Oh! I’m going to be by myself.'”

Co-host Kelly Ripa told Lopez she’s going to love it, and the mom of two said that she has an “inkling” she might love some of it.
“But also always making a home that they want to come back to, right? That was the goal for me since they were born,” the “On the Floor” singer responded. “Whatever this is, whatever we create, the three of us together, it’s going to be something that they always are like, ‘When I go home, it feels good. It smells like home, it tastes like home.’ All of it.’ And I always concentrated on that with them. And I feel like we’ve created that.”
Ripa went on to say that 17 can be a tough age. Lopez explained that she was in a “brutal” phase a few years ago, but the three of them have found a better rhythm since.
“But now they’re 17, they’ll be 18 in February. They’re graduating this June from high school and I feel like, we’re close,” the proud mom said. “We’re a close-knit three now. A lot has happened with us.”
“Well they’re advanced then. They got normal earlier,” joked Ripa.
“We had to bond together, you know what I mean? That kind of changed things and made it really beautiful for us,” Lopez said.
