NEED TO KNOW
Award season has officially begun as The Gothams reveals its list of 2025 film nominations.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the Gotham Film & Media Institute announced its nominees — selected by committees of film critics, journalists, festival programmers and curators — kicking off another round of the awards cycle.
One Battle After Another leads with the most nominations, six total. Stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Adam Sandler, Jacob Elordi, Teyana Taylor and Indya Moore are highlighted for their performances.
Father-son acting duo Stellan Skarsgård and Alexander Skarsgård are both recognized in the Outstanding Supporting Performance category for their separate films, Sentimental Value and Pillion, respectively.
“This year’s nominees celebrate an extraordinary year of cinematic achievement — one defined by bold, original storytelling, festival breakouts and filmmakers whose independent vision extends across studios and streamers,” said Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute.
Additional previously announced honors include Sinners for the Ensemble Tribute award; Tessa Thompson for the Spotlight Tribute; Frankenstein‘s Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi for the Vanguard Tribute; and Noah Baumbach for the Director Tribute.
The 35th annual Gotham Film Awards will be held Monday, Dec. 1. Read on for the complete list of nominations.
