Jake Shane is teaming up with oral care brand TheraBreath to send toothpaste and a personalized message to his followers’ friends whose breath needs some freshening
The creator tells PEOPLE that the partnership was “the easiest yes of all time” — both because he loves the brand and because of its name’s similarity to his podcast Therapuss
Earlier this month, Shane made headlines when it was announced that he would be starring as himself in a new comedy series on Hulu based on his life
Jake Shane will have the awkward conversation for you.
In collaboration with TheraBreath, a TikTok-viral oral care brand, the 26-year-old influencer is offering five lucky — or maybe unlucky — fans a custom video letting them know that their friend thinks their breath is in need of some freshening up.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Shane, who says he’s been using TheraBreath products since college, reveals how the partnership for their new toothpaste line “was the easiest yes of all time.”
“Whenever I do a collaboration, it’s cool to learn something that I didn’t know before,” continues the creator, noting that the brand informed him of their statistics that 85% of people wish someone would tell them they have bad breath, but only 15% actually will.
Until Dec. 10, fans can nominate their friends by DMing their handle and #Breathapy to @TheraBreath on Instagram, which will give their friends a chance to win a TheraBreath Toothpaste and a pep talk from Shane himself.
It’s also not lost on Shane that the brand and his hit podcast, Therapuss, have quite similar names — meaning the collaboration was a match made in heaven.

“I mean, that was my biggest calling to it,” he jokes.
Shane, who first started going viral in 2023 for his comedic reenactments of historic moments, made headlines earlier this month when it was announced that he would be starring as himself in a new comedy series on Hulu based on his life.
The day the news went live, he tells PEOPLE, “put my birthday to shame.”
“I was not expecting the response to be what it was,” he says. “I hoped people would care, but I felt like such an outpouring of love from all of my friends and followers and family — that was the best day ever.”
“I was just on cloud nine the entire day,” he continues. “It made me want to put my head down and work.”
The show — which Shane confirms is still in pre-production — finds the content creator reuniting with Hacks writer Genevieve Aniello after Shane’s small role in the hit HBO Max comedy’s fourth season.

He says of his new show: “The team is amazing, and I could not be happier with where it ended up.”
While the show’s development is in the “early stages,” says Shane, the internet star was able to share several details about the direction he wants to take the series.

Shane has previously been very open about his struggles with mental health, telling PEOPLE last month that one of his “thorns” of 2025 was a “pretty bad OCD spell that hasn’t gone away yet.”
As for whether his journey with mental health will be represented on screen: “I would assume so,” says Shane. “I don’t think there’s any portrayal of me in any sense of the word without portraying what I go through inside my head.”
Shane is also a lover of recent young adult comedies like Overcompensating and Adults — both of which made waves for their splashy cameos (Charli xcx in the former, Julia Fox in the latter) — and he says he would “obviously love” to follow suit.
“Any of my friends that would be open to it, I’d be happy to have them — I’d be honored, actually,” he tells PEOPLE.
