NEED TO KNOW
Cardi B is opening up about her relationship with Offset — and why she’s glad to be out of it.
The day after hard launching her new romance with Stefon Diggs, Cardi, 32, got candid about her mindset now versus while she was with the 33-year-old Migos rapper — even saying that she would “end up killing” him if they were still together.
The ”WAP” musician hopped on X Spaces early Tuesday, June 3 to address the reaction to her hard launch with the NFL player, thanking those who have “been so supportive” and calling out those who jumped to criticize.
“I don’t think people understand how tired I was. How tired, how mentally drained I was,” she told fans, seemingly referring to her former relationship. “Drained, drained, drained. Couldn’t eat. I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind.”

“I was literally losing my mind,” Cardi repeated. “And I gave it chances after chances after chances after chances after chances after chances.”
If she was “still there,” she continued, “I was going to end up going to jail, ‘cause I was going to end up killing them. Seriously, with my own bare hands. ‘Cause it was just getting so … it was just getting too much.”
Reps for Cardi B and Offset did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on June 3.
According to Cardi, outsiders look at her current situation and think, “Oh, you left somebody because they were cheating on you.” But it’s “more than” infidelity that caused the former couple to split, she said — it’s also the “constant lies, the gaslighting … It was really messing up with my head.”
“I was so depressed, ‘cause the lies, the constant drama. I would wake up every single morning paranoid,” the Grammy winner later added, claiming that at one point, even her managers were worried and wanted her to see a therapist.
This was before she and Offset reconciled and welcomed daughter Blossom last year, Cardi said — and now, the stars have officially called it quits.
“I did therapy and I tried and I fell back in love again and I decided to have my baby and everything, and it’s just like, when it’s the end of something it’s literally the end of something,” she told fans. “And I don’t know what people wanted me to do.”

Now, she feels much better, the “Up” rapper said. “I’m in a place right now that I’m very happy and I feel like I’m crawling. It’s like I’m learning how to do things,” Cardi told fans.
“Dating,” she continued, “is new to me,” and “it took a long time for me to open up to somebody.
Earlier in the X Spaces call, the star — who filed for divorce from Offset last year for a second time — also addressed the “mean” comments she has gotten since going public with Diggs, 31.
“I do not understand why I’m getting so much disgusting hate from men. I’m even being called a ho,” the star said, adding that she “was married for seven years” and “was faithful” for the duration of that time.

And now, with Diggs — who she says she “built a friendship” with prior to their romance — Cardi hasn’t “been this happy in a very, very long time,” she told fans.
“I went through a lot of f—ing trauma,” the rapper said. “And I had to learn myself. Before I even got with somebody, I had to learn myself. I had to come at peace with myself, and I had to shed a lot of f—ing tears so I could finally be like, ‘Yeah, I’m feeling good.’ And I’m sharing that.”
“Let me share that because this is really my life, that everybody having a f—ing opinion on,” she finished. “So shut the f— up.”
