NEED TO KNOW
Elaine Hendrix is sharing an update on the foot injury that led to her being carried out of Dancing with the Stars rehearsals on a stretcher.
“Hi everyone, doing a check in to let you know that I’m doing okay,” Hendrix, 54, began in a Wednesday, Oct. 29 Instagram video of herself alongside pro dance partner Alan Bersten.
While Elaine is “up and about,” she is still “tender” and “sore” after the injury, she said.
“I am starting pain management today. I’m not dancing today, I’m not dancing tomorrow. We’ll be back at it Friday. And I’m just getting ready to be in that ballroom next Tuesday,” Elaine continued.
“We just wanted to say thank you so much for voting for us, and show so much love to Elaine and the support,” Alan, 31, chimed in. “We can feel it and we appreciate it so much.”
“Yeah, it’s palpable,” Elaine continued. “All of your messages, I’m seeing it all, and I just want you to know that first and foremost, I’m okay, and second of all, I’m ready to go and just thank you so much for all the love and support that you’re showing and thank you to the entire Dancing with the Stars team. You’re taking such good care of me. So we will see you next Tuesday out on the ballroom.”
“We love you guys, thank you,” Alan said at the end of the video.
The rest of the post featured behind-the-scenes shots of what would have been Elaine’s costume, hair, and makeup for the DWTS Halloween episode. Her look was inspired by Mad Max: Fury Road.
During rehearsals, Elaine said she danced in her bare feet last week and because of that, she “ripped half the skin” off her right foot due to her “titanium joint.” She joked it’s “ghoulish” for Halloween week.

Bersten said she “froze” and said she couldn’t breathe because “something happened with her rib” during rehearsals in the ballroom on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 28,
Elaine was carried off the ballroom floor on a stretcher and escorted off the property in an ambulance. DWTS host Alfonso Ribeiro said doctors cleared her to stay in the competition if “she survives tonight’s elimination.”

Alfonso, 54, explained Elaine would need votes from the judges and the audience, and that the decision will be based on her last full rehearsal. The show played a clip from her and Alan dancing an Argentine Tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant.
Elaine and Alan survived this week’s eliminations, and will return to the show next week.
