Hugh Jackman isn’t afraid to pitch in to sing with Neil Diamond.
Jackman, 57, stars in the upcoming film Song Sung Blue alongside Kate Hudson, 46, about a tribute band formed in honor of the “Sweet Caroline” singer, 84. Ahead of the movie’s December release, both Jackman and Hudson got to spend some time with the legendary musician.
In an Instagram post the Deadpool & Wolverine actor shared on Tuesday, Oct. 28, the actor and Diamond could be seen singing a tune together while holding up matching microphones.
“What a day!! @neildiamond & @malibubirds thank you for an extraordinary visit,” Jackman captioned the photo. “It was one that I could never have dreamt could or would come true!”
“So special to spend time, to share, laugh and to sing karaoke! We are eternally grateful for your trust and support of @songsungbluefilm!,” he added.

In Song Sung Blue, Hudson and Jackman star as Lightning & Thunder band members Claire Sardina and Mike Sardina, respectively, who started the tribute act in dedication of Diamond’s music in 1987.

The Running Point actress added that she “really connected with Claire” — who she described as having a “love for life” — and hoped the real-life woman behind the biopic is “happy” with her depiction.
“Even in the darkest moments, when you get to know her, she just powers through with this light and joy,” she said. “There’s something about that energy that I just tapped into a little bit.”
Song Sung Blue releases in theaters on Dec. 25.
