Howard Stern is putting rumors to rest.
Amid the SiriusXM host taking some time off, speculation arose in the last month regarding his status at the station. However, during the Sept. 8 broadcast, he clarified he is not leaving, telling his listeners, “I am very happy at SiriusXM.”
Of course, the 71-year-old couldn’t let his audience off the hook so easily, and orchestrated a prank with Bravo’s Andy Cohen, who took over the time slot briefly, claiming he was going to rebrand the show as “Andy 100.”
“I know you’re expecting a big announcement from Howard, and this is not how things were meant to go,” Cohen said during his on-air segment. “This was supposed to be a cleaner hand off—I’m kind of winging it.”
The Bravo personality fed into fan’s fears that Stern was leaving SiriusXM, adding of the radio personality, “I can’t possibly fill his void.”
While Stern—who started his solo radio show in the 1980s—has been at SiriusXM for nearly 20 years, rumors began circulating last month that his show was ending. Speculation got so out of hand, in fact, that the show posted a compilation of the rumors on social media to promote its upcoming season.
