NEED TO KNOW
It’s that time of year where fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty get to fire up the heated debate of Team Jeremiah vs. Team Conrad again. But, after the show’s newest episode, it looks like one Fisher brother is getting the brownie points all because of a single ring.
In episode three of season 3, aired on Prime Video on July 23, Belly Conklin (played by Lola Tung) announces the news of her and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) engagement to the family — and yes, that includes her ex Conrad (Chris Briney), who returns to Cousins Beach for his late mom’s memorial ceremony.

Although the sudden news of Belly and Jeremiah’s courtship doesn’t go over well and the moment erupts in an argument and a cliffhanger on whether the couple will reunite after their forced separation.
It’s not the drama that’s causing chatter online, though. It’s instead Belly’s ring. There’s been a lot of divisive social media comments on the bride-to-be’s new bling, which has received lighthearted commentary for its dainty size.
“Belly girl what are you even trying to show off here like .. is the engagement ring in the room with us?” one fan joked on X.
“’Y’all are so materialistic’ Yeah? Which woman doesn’t want to be proposed with a beautiful, meaningful request and ring too. Belly was proposed behind a hospital after her brother’s accident, after finding out that Jeremiah cheated on her twice and without a ring. Lets be real,” another wrote.

Still, there are a handful of fans in Jeremiah’s corner, coming to his defense by agreeing that the ring is actually realistic for the characters.
“Belly isn’t materialistic, she just wants to be loved, she doesn’t care about the ring,” one viewer chimed in on the discourse, with another writing: “[The ring] just SCREAMS Belly to me. Anyone who hates this ring doesn’t get her character at all.”
Whether fans are embracing it or not, the ring is a real-life gem and it’s actually made and sold by Brooklyn-founded jewelry brand, Catbird. The exact one featured on Belly’s left hand is the Diamond Fizz Ring that’s made with a recycled diamond set on a 14K gold band. It’s currently selling for $298.

As shared in a press statement by the brand, the ring ” evokes nostalgia of summer, first love, and lasting transformation — key themes of the series,” which is why it was chosen for the series.
And there’s definitely more where that came from. The company, founded by Rony Vardi in 2004, launched a limited-edition seven-piece collection of necklaces, rings, bracelets and charms that will be featured throughout the series. Prices for the collection start at $44.
