Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan’s latest stop on the promotional tour for their upcoming Netflix film included some dangerously spicy salsa that only one of them could handle.
The Thursday Murder Club stars appeared on the Monday, Aug. 11, edition of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, during which they tried some of host Jimmy Fallon’s spicy salsa that included tomatoes, garlic, onion, jalapeños, cilantro, lime and salt.
While Mirren declared it was “really good” and “fabulous,” causing cheers and applause from the crowd, Brosnan appeared to take a while to swallow it. He ultimately declared, “It’s really good.”
As Mirren continues eating more of the salsa, Brosnan appears overwhelmed by the spicy flavor, coughing and blowing air on himself with his hand.

Mirren was unfazed, indulging in even more of the salsa. This prompted Fallon to call her a “real fan.”
She offers Brosnan more of the dip, only for him to say while coughing, “Go ahead. I’m fine. I’m really good. I don’t do hot sauce or jalapeños.”
“Oh, you didn’t like the hot sauce?” Mirren stops eating to ask. “No, not really. No, sorry,” he responds, causing laughter from the crowd. Fallon laughs and jokingly says that Brosnan is choking.
“No, it’s ok, I’ll be fine. You two just carry on,” Brosnan responds, causing bigger laughter from Fallon and Miren.
Directed by Chris Columbus, The Thursday Murder Club is based on the first book in Richard Osman’s popular series, which follows four residents of a U.K. retirement home who solve cold-case murders for fun.

In addition to Mirren and Brosnan, the film also includes Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie as leads. Additional stars include Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Jonathan Pryce, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Tom Ellis.
Mirren previously opened up to PEOPLE about why she was excited to take the role of Elizabeth.
“I sort of went, ‘Oh, if they ever make a movie of it, I’d love to play that role.’ And I very, very rarely feel that, but I have to confess, I did feel that this time,” said Mirren.
