The Fantastic Four: First Steps has hit a major milestone worldwide even though it has stumbled at the domestic box office. The new movie is the 37th feature-length installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the titular group of superheroes, who must protect Earth from Galactus (Ralph Ineson).
The Fantastic Four: First Steps reviews have earned it a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 86% with a Verified Hot audience score of 92%. However, this did not prevent the movie from stumbling hard at the box office during its sophomore weekend, falling 66% from its debut weekend in one of the MCU’s worst-ever week 2 drops.
Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is projected to conclude its second weekend in theaters by hitting a cumulative global box office total of $368 million. This makes it only the 12th movie of the year to surpass the $350 million milestone in spite of its troubles in the domestic marketplace.
