NEED TO KNOW
Finn Wolfhard is getting candid about his private life.
The Stranger Things star, 22, is gearing up for the fifth and final installment of the hit Netflix series to premiere later this year, and is starting to look ahead at what life after Hawkins will look like.
In terms of his personal life, Wolfhard knows what he wants when it comes to being in a relationship — or not — at this stage of his career.
He confirmed that he’s single and has no plans on changing that as he gears up for one last go in the Stranger Things world.
The actor told Variety that his relationship status is something that he’s “thinking about right now,” given the pivotal moment he’s at.
“This is the time kind of where I have been doing the most work kind of in my life,” he said, and because of that, he continued, “Maybe it’s been subconsciously — what’s the word? — deliberate? — to not have a committed partner.”

Between his young age and how busy he is, the “Objection!” singer said he doesn’t “really want to put” his focus on dating.
“The rate that I’m traveling all the time and working and stuff, I just feel like it’s not the time to do that.”
Wolfhard is still living with his parents at home in Vancouver — when he’s not working, that is — which is another choice that’s helped him recalibrate after the show wrapped.
“I lived alone for a few years, I guess two years, and then I moved back in with my family for a year,” he told PEOPLE in April. “And then, last year, I was living alone in Atlanta for the year while shooting Stranger Things, but I have since moved back in with my family.”
“We have a place in Vancouver. We all have our separate space, but we still live together, and it’s great.”
Considering how busy his schedule is when he’s working and that he “rarely get[s] to see my family,” Wolfhard said, “I think it’s a nice home base to have, just because, if I’m going to be away for most of the year working, then I might as well have a place [to come back to] with my parents.”
It’s an emotional time in general in the actor’s life as he’s still coming to terms with the end of his chapter as Mike Wheeler.
The show’s wrap in December “was definitely a lot” to process, he told PEOPLE. “I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect.”

It helped that Wolfhard is at peace with how he left Mike, who he has played since 2016, when he was 13.
“I was so happy with my character’s ending. I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy.”
There was an “emotional hangover” in the aftermath of filming his last scene, he said. “I just couldn’t believe it at all. It didn’t really start to go into focus until the next day.”
Having his castmates with him to take it all in helped. “The cast all stayed for the last day, we were all there together,” the Hell of a Summer star recalled. “It was really great to be around each other.”
