Could there be another murder in the building? The cast of Only Murders in the Building sure hopes so.

The Hulu comedy series starring Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin premiered its fifth season in September 2025. In addition to more buzzy guest appearances from A-listers like Renée Zellweger and Téa Leoni, season 5 saw everyone’s favorite podcasters investigating another devastating death of one of their own: The Arconia’s doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca).

“Our beloved doorman has a hold of a large amount of tenants in our buildings’ secrets, and many other things about his life were interesting for me to sort of explore,” co-creator John Hoffman told Decider in October 2024. “We really are dipping our toe into a New York City in season 5 that feels particularly ripped from the headlines in certain ways that we’ve not done before.”

After the season 5 finale wrapped on Oct. 28, fans were eager to find out whether the Emmy-nominated series had been renewed for another installment. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, in October 2024, Hoffman told Variety that he’ll stick with Only Murders in the Building for as long as he can.

“Once you get over the hump of how many murders can happen in one building, you’re really stepping back and looking ultimately at the true original concept, which is three lonely people in New York City brought together by a common interest in true crime,” he said.

The showrunner continued, “Hopefully, we’ve tethered out our stories and hit reflections of things that we all recognize about life and death — and being that close to it and examining and investigating and following that, and then reflecting back. All of that feels very fertile always, so I’ll go as long as they’ll have us.”

Will there be a season 6 of Only Murders in the Building?

Hulu has not confirmed a sixth season for Only Murders in the Building. However, Martin — who stars as Charles-Haden Savage and co-created the series with Hoffman — has faith that the show will continue.

“You can just be canceled,” he told USA Today in September 2025. “We believe we’re doing another season; we think so. But you have to live season by season. And even if it was canceled tomorrow, we would have to say, ‘We had a great, great run.’ … We loved what we were doing. It was a great way to spend five, six years.”

Prior to the season 5 finale in October 2025, Deadline reported that the series’s sixth season could be set in an entirely new continent. London is reportedly the most likely location.

Who could join the cast of season 6?

If Only Murders in the Building was renewed for a sixth season, stars Gomez, Short and Martin would likely return. Viewers could also potentially see other recurring cast members like Michael Cyril Creighton, Jackie Hoffman, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Meryl Streep — all of whom appeared in season 5 as well — reprise their beloved roles.

What has Selena Gomez said about Only Murders in the Building season 6?

In her interview with USA Today, Gomez said she’s grown with her character, Mabel Mora, throughout the series and hopes to continue doing so.

“I really hope that I can just keep evolving Mabel as I get older,” the actress and singer said, “because I want to do this for a long time.”

Gomez echoed that sentiment in a September 2025 interview with Numéro, saying that she felt like she “was able to become Mabel” throughout filming.

“I went along and grew up with her,” she said. “And [she] is a part of me now. I just enjoy the process.”
