NEED TO KNOW
Emmy Russell and her husband Tyler Ward are asking for prayers after their baby daughter was hospitalized.
The former American Idol contestant, 26, and her former YouTuber turned singer-songwriter husband, Tyler Ward, shared a video on Instagram on Sunday, July 20, after their baby daughter, Taylor Raydiant, whom they welcomed earlier this year, was admitted to the hospital.
“These last few days have been interesting for us. We’ve noticed that little Taylor has had some seizures and we took her to the hospital today and we know that in these moments, we really do believe in the power of prayer,” Tyler began. “And so we’re just asking you to come alongside us in this moment.”

“She’s doing her EE…what’s it called? EEG. So just pray for like normal brain waves,” Emmy explained. “She’s been having these spasms, kind of just like she’s falling almost… they were just really concerned about it and wanted to do some… checking how our brain is and everything. So pray for answers, because I really want answers.”
In their caption, the couple explained that their daughter had been “fussy” and crying for the past few days, but in the morning, Tyler noticed small spasms.
“We filmed it and rushed to the doctor. They confirmed it could be small seizures and asked us to stay overnight for testing,” they said. “It’s a different kind of hard right now. We’re asking for your prayers, we truly believe they could make all the difference tonight.”
On Monday, July 21, the couple shared another statement on Instagram in which they said they were awaiting results from a neurologist.
“Alright y’all — thank you for your prayers for Taylor,” they wrote. “She did spasm this morning. She has the EEG, so we will see what her results are and next steps. The neurologist should be coming in very soon. Please continue to pray.”
Back in February, Emmy and Tyler spoke with PEOPLE about welcoming their baby daughter, who was born after a long labor.
“My labor was long, but it was worth it,” Russell told PEOPLE at the time. “I remember looking at her and she immediately had…her eyes were wide open, they sat her on me, and she just looked at me, she knew I was her mom, and I just looked at her and like, ugh, it makes me cry still.”
Russell had a particularly difficult labor. She labored for 36 hours and lost 1.6 liters of blood, which wasn’t caught by doctors until she was discharged. But despite the long road, the new mom said it’s all worth it to hold her daughter.
“I was really out of it because I was losing so much blood, and so I wasn’t really able to lift her my entire time at the hospital,” she shares. “But every time that I did get the chance to…that’s your child, it just melts your heart. I didn’t really know that kind of love existed.”
