NEED TO KNOW
Dolly Parton is a connoisseur of late-night tacos, just like the rest of us.
Speaking with Business Insider in an article published on Wednesday, Sept. 3, the queen of country music candidly gushed about her longtime love for Taco Bell and most importantly, her allegiance to the soft-shell taco.
“I like the others, but they fall apart so bad, especially if you’re riding around,” said the “Jolene” singer. “So I always get a Taco Supreme, with the sour cream and all that, in the soft shell. I love that.”

Besides her choice of shells, Parton also opened up about being a fan of the once-discontinued Mexican Pizza. As fans may remember, in 2022, Parton joined Doja Cat in Taco Bell’s Mexican Pizza: The Musical, which celebrates the return of the beloved food item.
“I was just one of many, many people that had missed them,” Parton said of her musical participation. “I’d just make them bigger so I could have more of it!”
The Mexican Pizza — which includes ground beef and refried beans sandwiched between two tortilla shells that’s topped with cheese, tomatoes and pizza sauce — was discontinued in November 2020 after spending 35 years on the menu, though it was brought back in 2022.
The popular fast food chain credited the return to the fans who participated in the Change.org “Save the Mexican Pizza” petition.

While she loved getting Taco Bell with her late husband of 58 years, Carl George, Parton is no stranger to the kitchen. The country icon, who released her cookbook Good Lookin’ Cookin’: A Year of Meals last year alongside her sister Rachel Parton George and launched a line of single-serve frozen meals earlier this year, has said that she learned how to cook “out of necessity” as one of 12 children.
“We’d have to climb up on the chairs to peel potatoes, turnips or whatever,” Parton told PEOPLE in September 2024 during a joint interview with George. “We were really helping out when Mama was not well, or in bed with a kid or having a new baby or whatever… so my first [lesson] came out of just really being a necessity of us helping mom as the older girls.”
George also revealed that Parton is really good at making chicken and dumplings, a recipe that’s not included in their cookbook. Parton said that’s because it’s not “good lookin’ enough,” whereas George said she simply “won’t tell anyone the recipe.”
“No, I won’t because it’s not good lookin’. It just tastes good,” confessed Parton. “It’s just like Mama said, ‘It’s just got love in it.’ I just put a lot of love in it.”
