NEED TO KNOW
Dierks Bentley and his wife Cassidy sleep in separate rooms — but for an important reason.
During the Tuesday, Sept. 2 episode of Bobby Bones’ BobbyCast, the country artist got candid about his sleep habits with his wife of almost 20 years.
Dierks, 49, brought up his routine while on the road and discussed how that changes once he returns home to life with Cassidy and their three children.
“When I do get off the road, it’s like the No. 1 priority,” he began before mentioning the sleeping arrangements that get them a better night’s sleep. “My wife will be like, ‘How’d you sleep last night?’ And we don’t even sleep in the same room right now anymore. We’ve moved beyond that.”

“I’ve been thinking about this for years,” he said, explaining how he and Cassidy will get into bed together and have different sleep experiences.
“I’m just even thinking about … the position. I have three pillows [that] have to be positioned exactly the correct way. I’m just thinking about the process of getting to fall asleep. And all of a sudden she’ll jerk,” Dierks continued, in disbelief. “I’m like, ‘You got to be kidding me. You’re already out?’ “
“Years ago I decided to separate church and state and I got rid of our bed. I’ve got two platform beds and two box springs and two mattresses,” he continued, noting that separate mattresses let Cassidy “move around all she wants” and allow space to push her over if needed.
However, Dierks said lately he’s “such [an] animal.” “It’s terrible. She’s sleeping on the couch now… There’s an extra room we have, and she’ll go sleep in there. And even last night, we’re like, ‘We’ve got to get this back on track when I get off the road. We got to get back in the same room.’ ”
The country star concluded that the plan is for them to get back into their shared bedroom before the end of the year.

Dierks and Cassidy have been married since 2005. They originally met as teenagers in the eighth grade and had been part of each other’s lives since.
“It’s a pretty crazy story of just going back and forth with the right time or the wrong time, or right place, wrong time, all that stuff,” Dierks told The Boot in 2016.
“Finally, I was playing a show in Las Vegas, and opening for George Strait, and she walked on the bus. I kind of knew that that was the moment.”
They eloped in December 2005 and share three children: daughters Evalyn Day and Jordan Catherine, and son Knox.

Dierks told PEOPLE in 2018 that the “greatest character builders” in their marriage are their kids. “No good cop, bad cop,” he said at the time. “It’s all in it together. I think that the greatest character builder in a marriage is kids.”
“They love traveling, touring. Whenever it’s possible, we just drag them out there,” Dierks added. “I feel like that’s my main job really is being a dad.”
Dierks’ latest album, Broken Branches, is available to stream.
