Federal prosecutors asked a judge to sentence Sean “Diddy” Combs to more than 11 years in prison for his prostitution convictions.
Combs was previously found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution following a closely watched federal trial that also saw him acquitted of far more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
“His crimes of conviction are serious and have warranted sentences over ten years in multiple cases for defendants who, like Sean Combs, engaged in violence and put others in fear,” prosecutors wrote in a sentencing memorandum. “Consistent with those cases and based on the corroborated evidence presented at trial, this Court should impose a sentence of no less than 135 months’ imprisonment.”
Prosecutors argued in the filing that Combs is “unrepentant” and that his “history and characteristics demonstrate years of abuse and violence,” including his admitted mistreatment of ex Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, who testified during the music mogul’s trial.
The prosecution’s sentencing recommendation differs greatly from the defense’s, which asked that Judge Arun Subramanian sentence Combs to no more than 14 months in prison.

The Bad Boy Records founder has already spent the past year behind bars, since he was arrested in September 2024. He was denied bail both before and after his trial and has been incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Sentencing is currently scheduled for Friday, Oct. 3. Subramanian is also weighing a defense motion to have Combs’ convictions tossed.
