NEED TO KNOW
Diane Keaton’s legacy includes helping her daughter “choose the perfect wedding gown.”
The actress, whose death was announced on Oct. 11, was a proud adoptive mother of two children — daughter Dexter and son Duke. Amid the news of Keaton’s death, Saint Clark Bridal Suite — the California bridal shop Keaton visited with Dexter before her 2021 nuptials — reflected on Keaton’s “vibrant” energy and her mission to help her daughter find her dream wedding dress.
“We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of the iconic Diane Keaton,” the wedding dress store began its Instagram post on Tuesday, Oct. 14. “A legend on screen and a light in person, Diane once came into our boutique with her daughter to help choose the perfect wedding gown. From the moment she walked in, she didn’t feel like a celebrity; she felt like an old friend. Wholesome, vibrant, full of color and warmth, she made everyone around her feel instantly at ease.”

Saint Clark Bridal Suite continued, “Her presence was magnetic, her humor effortless, and her love for her daughter so beautifully evident. It was a moment we’ll never forget, and one that so many women around the world can relate to; because Diane was, and always will be, a gift to women everywhere.”
The shop then offered its “deepest, most heartfelt condolences” to Keaton’s family, and thanked Keaton — who PEOPLE confirmed died of pneumonia in California at age 79 — for her contributions to the world.
Dexter, 29, married Jordan White in California on June 12, 2021, seven months after the couple got engaged in November 2020.
Not long after the nuptials, Dexter shared several pictures of the big day on Instagram, including a family photo of herself with her husband, her mom and her brother. Keaton opted for a cream pantsuit with white boots, a white turtleneck and her signature wide-brim hat. Meanwhile, Dexter wore a beautiful wedding dress with a V-neckline and floral lace trim.

Last year, Dexter shared a sweet throwback snap of herself dancing with Keaton at her wedding reception.

A source told PEOPLE Oct. 11 that Keaton’s health “declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her.” Her death “was so unexpected,” added the source, “especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening,” the source further noted.
