NEED TO KNOW
Jack Alcott and Michael C. Hall sometimes need to get pumped up before a big scene.
At the Dexter: Resurrection world premiere in New York City on July 9, Alcott told PEOPLE that while there’s rarely much prep between him and Hall before filming together, the on-screen father-son duo sometimes needs a little extra motivation.
“There have definitely been times where one of us or both of us will get down and do some pushups to get amped, and there have been one or two moments of just taking a second and standing with one another,” Alcott, 26, says.

Alcott emphasized that these instances are mostly few and far between.
As Alcott recalls, “We don’t really ever rehearse or run lines. We just… lock in and go.” He explains this lack of prep as allowing himself and Hall to “jump right in so that it’s all fresh.”

Alcott joined the crime thriller franchise in 2021’s Dexter: First Blood, playing the titular character’s son, Harrison Morgan. Alcott reprised his role in Dexter: Resurrection, which released its first two episodes on Paramount+ on July 11.
This series follows Dexter and his son to New York City, where the former attempts to repair their relationship. Of course, things quickly spiral out of control.
Joining Alcott and Hall are some fresh faces to the Dexter franchise, including big names like Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage.

Dexter: Resurrection is the fourth series within the Dexter franchise, which began with Dexter’s eight-season run from 2006 to 2013. The show was an adaptation of the 2004 novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, written by Jeff Lindsay.
The franchise returned to the small screen eight years later with Dexter: New Blood, a sequel series that ran for one season. Two more Dexter shows would follow with the prequel Dexter: Original Sin in December 2024, and the latest offering, Dexter: Resurrection, which follows the events of Dexter: New Blood.
