Conner Floyd is bidding farewell to The Young and the Restless as he prepares to move to Days of Our Lives.
After Floyd’s character Chance Chancellor was shot and killed on the July 28 episode of the soap opera, the 32-year-old actor expressed his gratitude for being part of the series for the last four years in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“It’s been real GC,” he shared alongside a clip of BTS moments, set to the Beastie Boys song, “B-Boys Makin’ With The Freak Freak.” “What a ride. I have truly been blessed to call myself a citizen of Genoa City. To share the stage with so many talented and hard working actors, creatives and crew members.”

“This is without a doubt a special place,” he continued. “I’m grateful to have been a part of such an iconic piece of art that has lasted through the decades and that has such a stellar, die hard fan base. Thank you for accepting me.”
“Chance will always have a close place in my heart. He’s taught me a lot and I’ll miss him dearly. It’s been an absolute honor to represent the Chancellor legacy. Detective Chancellor, over and out,” he added.
Chance’s demise came after he was invited to Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) French estate in order to hide from a murder, who had already killed Damian Kane (Germain Rivers).
When it came to light that Aristotle Dumas’ assistant Carter (Vincent Stalba) was the killer, he held Cane’s wife (Christel Khalil) hostage and Chance intervened, leading to him being shot.
In an interview with TV Insider, Floyd reflected on his character’s shocking death.
“As sad as it is, I think that’s how Chance would want to go out,” he told the outlet. “That’s his story that he’s always been telling—that he’s a hero—and the ultimate person to put everybody else above himself, so I think it’s a little poetic in a way. And then the way I died in Billy Flynn’s arms is also very poetic.”
He also recalled filming his final scene, saying, “We had this last scene, and everyone was clapping, and I was saying goodbye to everyone and walking out, and I cried like a baby. But there are good things on the horizon.”
Last month, it was announced that Floyd is set to join Days of Our Lives as Chad DiMera following Flynn’s departure from the role after more than a decade.
The official Instagram account for Days of Our Lives shared a photo of Floyd outside his dressing room.
PEOPLE learned that Floyd began taping on Monday, June 23, but fans will have to wait until April 21, 2026, to see him as Chad in his first episode.

“Everyone’s awesome and very welcoming and very helpful,” he told TV Insider of filming Days of Our Lives. “I’ve hit the ground running, and it’s been going great so far.
