NEED TO KNOW
Coco Austin and Ice T’s daughter is sharing an emotional message to her mom.
The 9-year-old posted a lengthy video in a joint post on her and Austin’s Instagrams over the weekend in which she read from an essay she’d written about her mom. At the start of the video, Chanel shows the message, which has been written in the Notes app.
Sitting at her desk in a pink room, Chanel begins to read aloud the sweet essay dedicated to Austin.
“How much longer until I have with my mom. Sometimes that question drifts into my mind. Not because anything is wrong, but because loving someone so deeply makes you think about how precious every moment is,” Chanel read.

“I know I’m still young but when I’m mad at my mom, I always think that some people in the world don’t even have a mom because they left for some odd reason,” she continued. “And if something happens, they’re going to be there with me. She is going to be there. She carried me and birthed me. She stops everything to be with me.”
She went on to say, “When I look at my mom, I don’t just see a parent, I see the person who has shaped my whole world. Someone who fills my life with comfort, laughter and love. That feels bigger than anything else.”
As the essay continues, Chanel thanked her mom for being there for her and helping her out with her schoolwork. She said she sometimes thinks about how her mom might not be around forever and that makes her sad.
“A message to my glorious precious amazing mother! ♥️😽,” Chanel wrote in her caption. In her comments, Austin wrote back an adorable message to her daughter.
“Baby, this is sooooo special to me! Your words are beautiful! I know exactly what you mean . Will be together not in this life but for the next and eternity ✨️ I love you sweetheart,” Austin wrote. “Also im a very lucky girl that you picked me to be your mom 💖.”
Earlier this month, Austin appeared on the Dumb Blonde podcast and defended her choice to breastfeed Chanel until she was 6 years old. The proud mom shared that the mother-daughter duo used it more as a “bonding experience” in her later years.
“It wasn’t like I was feeding her because she needed a meal. She was able to eat by a year, you know, full, like, solids,” she told the podcaster. “It was more of a bonding experience and more of like, ‘Okay, I’ll give you the milk.’ But, it was more like she wanted to be around me. So I was like, I’m gonna let her stop when she wants to stop.”
Austin said that she wanted to allow her daughter to decide when she wanted to stop.
“She’s not gonna be 16 on my boob,” Austin said. “She’s gonna eventually figure out, ‘Okay, this is kinda strange or weird and stuff.’ And that happened around 6, … which was still [an] extremely long amount of time apparently. But in Europe, they’re doing till 7. Like, it’s nothing to them. I mean, Americans think that’s weird.”
