Cobra Kai star Martin Kove is apologizing for allegedly biting his costar Alicia Hannah-Kim at a fan convention on June 22.
In a statement to TMZ, Kove, 78, said, “I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia, a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position.”
He continued, “I’ve always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on Cobra Kai. I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior.”

“I regret my actions for which I take full responsibility for what I did, and again I apologize to her and her husband. I’m committed to learning from this and it will never happen again,” the statement concluded.
According to an informational police report previously obtained by PEOPLE, the stars were at Summer Con in Washington on June 22 when the incident occurred. Hannah-Kim, 37, alleged that she arrived to meet the cast at their booth and was met with an unprovoked attack when she tapped Kove, 78, on the shoulder to greet him.
“Martin Kove suddenly grabbed her arm and bit her upper arm so hard it nearly drew blood, and she yelled out in pain,” the documents allege. “Once Martin Kove finished biting her arm, he grabbed her arm again and began kissing it where he had bit her.”
The report then states that she and her husband, Sebastian Roche, confronted the Karate Kid alum, who allegedly “exploded on them” and insisted “he did not do anything wrong.” Hannah-Kim proceeded to find an on-site law enforcement officer, who confirmed that she “had a very noticeable bite mark on her arm that was already turning blue and bruising.”

Hannah-Kim decided not to press charges, but privately requested an official report “in case this continues.” She and her husband signed affidavits and were given a case number, PEOPLE previously reported.
