NEED TO KNOW
Ciara opened up about her thoughts on people who call husband Russell Wilson “corny.”
In an interview with The Breakfast Club on Friday, Aug 22, the “Goodies” hitmaker shared her unfiltered opinion about people who refer to her husband in that way.
After Charlamagne tha God asked Ciara what she thinks when people label her husband as “corny,” she said, “I don’t even have to reply to that.”
“Why would I even respond to that, you know what I’m saying? I know what I know, and that’s all that matters,” added Ciara, 39.

She then complimented Wilson, 36, as “the most amazing human being you can know.”
“The smartest, most intelligent Black man that I have ever known, you know,” she said. “What you see with him is really who he is. So, it’s beautiful, it’s different.”
Charlamagne, 47, then noted the guys on The Breakfast Club have had conversations about why Wilson gets called “a simp.”

“Well, I think it depends on…well, who’s the man saying it?” Ciara replied. “I’m not gonna go down a specific lane, I’m just saying, who’s the man saying it?”
She continued: “It’s like someone’s saying the person doesn’t love someone, but have you ever loved someone right? Have you ever been loved right? So, sometimes, people, to me, speak out of pocket because they just don’t know.
Instead of being “mad” about people’s comments, Ciara would rather say “God bless them.”
“Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but we don’t have to live, I don’t have to live my life to prove anything to anybody,” said the “1, 2 Step” performer. “I think sometimes, too, people just have a perspective because of the way they see life.”
She concluded: “And that might just be their way, but, you know, to me, too bad for them if they want to live life a certain way and love people a certain way. Too bad for them.”
Ciara and Wilson initially met in 2015 at a Wisconsin basketball game. The pair got engaged in March 2016 during a surprise vacation and were married in a secret ceremony in England in July 2016.
The pair share three children: daughters Sienna, 8, and Amora, 1, and son Win, 5, while Ciara is also mother to son Future Zahir, 11, from her previous relationship with rapper Future.
In July 2025, Wilson paid tribute to Ciara for their ninth wedding anniversary with a sweet Instagram video that featured several images of the couple throughout their relationship.
“From the moment I met you, I knew God was showing me the way,” Wilson captioned the post.
He added, “Every day since has been a reflection of His grace — full of love, laughter, purpose, and the kind of partnership I used to pray for.”
“Happy Anniversary, my queen @ciara. You light up my life in ways words can’t explain. Here’s to the journey we’ve walked … and the one we’re still writing together. I love you, endlessly. ❤️,” he concluded
