Law & Order: SVU’s Christopher Meloni Addresses That “Love” Remark in Season 27 Premiere
The end of Benson and Stabler doesn’t have to be especially heinous.
Indeed, when the time comes, Christoper Meloni who plays Det. Elliot Stabler in the Law & Order franchise opposite Mariska Hargitay’s Capt. Olivia Benson wants the former SVU partners’ ending to be something special.
“Some conclusion to Benson and Stabler,” Christopher told People in an interview published Nov. 8. “I think both characters, Stabler and Benson, should ride off into the sunset.”
Fans were first introduced to Benson and Stabler when the long-running procedural drama premiered in 1999. Since, fans have longed for some kind of romance between the pair—especially after Meloni’s character returned to the Law & Order fold in 2021, leading the Organized Crime spinoff on Peacock beyond occasional SVU appearances, following his departure in 2011.
“For Benson and Stabler to get together, it’s hard! Hard,” Christopher quipped about the idea of the pair having a romantic relationship,” noting that there is an element of their friendship that makes things “sexy.”
