JoJo Siwa is giving fans a candid look at a sweet conversation with boyfriend Chris Hughes.
In a video shared to her social media accounts on Thursday, July 24, the 22-year-old musician could be seen crying after Hughes, 32, compliments her on having a “really good hairline” — something Siwa says was the “number one thing” people used to leave negative comments about on her social media pages.
“I’m drying my hair right now, and he goes, ‘You have a really good hairline.’ That’s the number one thing I was bullied for as a child,” Siwa says in the clip, wiping away her tears.
The Love Island alum then offers Siwa a tissue before embracing her and telling her: “I love you. You have a really good hairline, it’s got so much hair.”
“He had no idea of the 2017-2020 hairline memes that I’m not affected by on the daily anymore, but him saying this out of thin air literally finished healing a part of me,” the musician captioned her post.
“It’s almost like I had a bandaid over it for the last eight years and just was leaving it there scared to look under it to see if it’s healed, and he removed it, being like, ‘Why do you have this on?’ before I could even explain what it was,” she shared. “Lucky lucky girl I am. Don’t even think I realize how lucky sometimes.🤍🥺✨”
Siwa has been candid in the past about her struggles with her hair — especially amid rumors that she was dealing with hair loss from wearing a ponytail, which she denied back in 2022.
At the time, the Dance Moms alum said that she dealt with a “stress rash” that caused her to pick at her head.
“It’s actually not from the ponytails, because if it was from my ponytails — considering it went on this side — it would be this,” she said on TikTok in July 2022. “When I was little, I had a really bad stress rash right here on Dance Moms, and I would pick at it all day long…I damaged every single hair follicle that has ever been right there.”

Siwa has not been afraid to get experimental with her hairstyles. Earlier this year, she debuted a new hairstyle at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles by rocking a shaved mohawk look.
At the March event, she showed off how she had shaved both sides of her head, and one side was dyed in rainbow colors to match the Pride flag, while the other was light blue, pink and white to match the transgender flag. The white segment was encrusted with jewels to add extra sparkle.
As for Siwa and Hughes, the pair met during Celebrity Big Brother UK’s 24th season in April, sparking romance rumors and maintaining in interviews at the time that they were just friends. Around the time, they both also denied her breakup from her ex Kath Ebbs was a result of their connection.
Siwa later confirmed that their relationship was no longer platonic in an interview with The Guardian on June 2. “It’s not platonic anymore, and it’s been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I’m absolutely head over heels for him and he’s the same way,” Siwa told the outlet.
